FACTORY CAR STEREO INSTALL

I BOUGHT A MITSUBISHI CX-55FCY-2 AUTO STEREO PLAYER -- PLAYS AUDIO CASSETTES ONLY -- ON EBAY. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE YEAR/MAKE/MODEL OF THE VEHICLE IT MAY HAVE BEEN ASSOCIATED WITH WAS.

IT DID NOT COME WITH A WIRING HARNESS, OR A WIRING DIAGRAM, AND MY LOCAL INSTALLER REALLY NEEDS ONE OR BOTH OF THOSE ITEMS BEFORE WE CAN DO THE INSTALL.

HELP !! :-)

When i use a cassette adapter to try and play a portable cd it switches back and forth from side i to side 2 and then ejects the tape. On the adapter it says to keep the player set on side 1 but it doesn't...

You can't do anything about that. If you want to play cd on your car stereo, the best thing to do is use an FM transmiter. They can be bought for about 20 bucks. They plug into the cd player headphones, and you tune your radio to its frequency.

I bought a Factory CD Player for my 1999 Grand AM

Does the stereo match up with car ? if it does then the harness should just plug in and work, if i remember correctly Gm didnt have any coded stereos, imports are the notorious for having them . I would just give it a try and plug it in . If it says code then you will have to get serial number from the stereo itself and call the dealer

What is polarity? & help with hooking up mp3 player to car?!

POLARITY MEANS +/- AND NOT TO REVERSE. FOR EXAMPLE ON A SERIES WIRING SPEAKER SYSTEM YOU REVERSE POLARITY EVERY OTHER SPEAKER SO THE OHM LOAD DOUBLES. OR ON ELECTRIC CARS SERIES WIRING DOUBLES VOLTAGE OUT PUT AFTER EACH BATTERY IS HOOKED UP.... BASICLY POLARITY IS POSITIVE ONE SIDE NEGATIVE THE OTHER MOST CASES YOU DONT WANT TO GET IT BACKWARDS POSITIVE TO NEGATIVE ONLY CONECT SAME+ TO OTHER + UN LESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING. WHAT POLAITY HAS TO DO WITH AN MP3 ADAPTER I HAVE NO IDEA...WAIT... DOES IT CHARGE THE MP3 PLAYER??? DOES IT HAVE AN ADJUSTABLE VOLTAGE OUTPUT SWITCH?? THATY YOU PLUG IN TO MP3 PLAYER??

'99 Mercurary Tracer cassette player problems...

The cassette adapters are notorious for getting stuck in the deck. More often than not its the wire that comes out of it that causes it. The cleanest and safest way to remove the cassette adapter is to remove the radio, take off the top and "Help" it eject with your fingers or some narrow tool that may get behind it to push it forward and out. If you dont want to take the deck out of the dash, you can try pushing the eject button while manipulating the adapter wire, but I dont recommend it. Its just better to take the deck out. Good Luck
