Question about Fuji FinePix A310 Digital Camera

5 Answers

''focus error'' I have a 2year Finepix a310. Suddenly, it comes up with the msg ''focus error'' . Taking out battery overnight has not helped. Any suggestions as I do not wish to pay GBP64 to send it to Fuji for repair. May throw it away and buy a new camera.

Re: ''focus error''

Check out this link:

After the basics (cleaning the lens, replacing the batteries, etc.), try dropping the camera on a carpeted area from about 2-3 feet. It worked for my Fuji A500 and 90% of the responders on the link. Everything on the web said it would cost ~$100 to fix. I was in the process of researching new cameras to buy and had nothing to lose by dropping it on the floor.
The error may be caused by debris in the zoom mechanism preventing it from working. Dropping the camera loosens the debris and voila!

Re: ''focus error''

Hi Minoo I to have had focus error problem with Fuji A310 camera and after much frustration and phone calls i decided to try a different approach to this problem........ I FORMATTED my 64mb XD card in my computer card reader using the FAT setting and guess what my camera is magically working now..... Why couldnt FUJI helpline have told me this when i spoke to them, answer because they were to preoccupied in trying to sell me a new camera!!!!! Why is it called a HELPLINE then should rename it "FUJI RESELL LINE" hey.... Also formatted 16mb card same way and working also, maybe i should get a job at FUJI hey only problem is i wouldn't endorse there products, very good picture quality in an unreliable package..suggest any better brand for next time Minoo? Re: ''focus error''

All I did was take out the card, blow on it a little and it worked again!!! Try that!

Re: ''focus error''

I had the same problem and from what I have read on the net figured it was cheaper to buy a new one than repair it. So instead I tried dropping it lightly to see if something would jiggle and now it works!

Re: ''focus error''

At two years old that £64 will go a long way to buying a current better specified camera Thats the way to go I think

Hit the lens (smack it on you're leg); that seems to be the solution..........
But try cleaning the lens and the AF assistent first!!

Unfortunately dropping this model, and the f40, 45, 47 fd models, is suicidal for the camera. The lens has an inner slide ring which other models do not have and this ring has three lugs to keep the lens from spinning when powered up and used. Unfortunately these lugs are also clips which hold the focus lens inplace. These are tiny. hard to repair

Hello, I have fuji finepix F50fd camera. It suddenly takes blurred pictures. The lens is clean and there are no messages on the screen. Can't remeber dropping it or damaging it in any way. Regards, Sofia

Welcome to FixYa.

There are three reasons why do you get a blurred images.

1. The camera lens is dirty
- clean the lens with soft and dry cloth
2. AF frame (lit red) and !AF appeared when taking pictures.
- check the focus on the subject and take pictures
3. A small camera icon appeared when taking pictures
- It may cause camera shae. Hold the camera steadily.Use flash photography. A tripod may be recommended, depending on the scene and mode.

Focus error (can't take pictures) A310 Fujifilm camera Camera shows "Focus Error" and does not take pictures

A couple of quick things come to mind first is you may be way to close to your subject for the camera to focus OR you are trying to take a pictures of a shiny subject, painted wall a mirror or some other subject that lacks contrast

Taking a picture, I get a focus error message and the lens won't retract.

Try this post:

It is probably a battery problem, I had no error but autofocus didn't work. Replacing batteries solved it.

Hi, my zoom is stuck out and won't retract.

Your lens motor is most likely burnt out. The only way to continue taking pictures is push the lens in manually, You may have problems with the focus after doing this, so just turn the lens manually until you are zoomed in properly. If you have a warranty now is the time to use it.

Why an ei6 error msg on canona630 suddenly after just taking pix?

The E16 error is a circuit board problem and is not user fixable. It needs to go to a Canon service facility. Try to get it fixed under warranty, if possible. If not, get an estimate before repairing, as price may be prohibitive. Weigh repair costs against replacing with a new camera.

Fuji FinePix A310 Digital Camera Problem

I bet you're using he maximum pic resolution on the camera, and the problem you mention isn't really a problem but a limitation of the camer itself. The delay you're seeing is the time it takes for the camera to "write" the picture to the memory card. It something I've seen in most of the FinePix cameras and the only soltuion is to reduce the resolution of the pictures, thereby reducing the size of the "write" to the card. Sorry if this isn't the answer you're looking for, if the answer is acurrate, I would appreciate a rating. Give the resoltion change a try and let me know if the write time is faster.

I had same thing. I took camera to bits and still didn't work. Then one day just before throwing it in the bin with batteries in and lens extended, I grabbed the outer ring (bigger part of lens near the body) and pulled it out a little further. I think there was a slight click then the red light turned green and everything was back to normal. Maybe I was lucky, but its worth a try because it definitely worked for me. Cheers John
