it's not a hardware-problem - it's a windows feature Computer restarts - smile_wink.gif - (and it really is one !) - please try this:
To prevent a USB mouse from waking your PC

1. Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking Device Manager.

2. In the list of device categories, expand Mice and other pointing devices.

3. Right-click the entry for the USB mouse, and then click Properties.

4. On the Power Management tab, clear the Allow this device to wake the computer check box.

5. Click OK.
Don't forget to do this with your mouse + keyboard nd printer

My lexmark will only print from Wi-Fi . When we try to print from my main computer it wont print unless you restart the computer and then it prints.

If the communication problem happens when the printer is on power saver mode, a firmware update should help fix the problem. A firmware update for your model addresses the problem where the printer is having trouble waking up from sleep mode. Please visit the Lexmark website to download and install update at Please make sure the printer is awake and the USB cable is connected from the printer to your computer when updating.

Try plugging the mfc into another usb port on the computer. The ones in the back are closer to the processor, usually work better.

My computer will not go to stand by or sleep mode

Were you able to make the computer go to sleep mode before? Well what you can try doing is go to start, run and type msconfig, click ok. You will get the system configuration window, then go to the startup tab in the system configuration window and at the bottom of the window there is a button as disable all, click that and on the same window there are startup items, select the antivirus program and items that you would need to have at the task bar. Then click apply and ok. You will get a message to restart the computer. Click restart. As it restarts you will get a message saying that you have used the system configuration window, click do not show me the message again in the message. Also you can go to start, right click on My computer and go to properties, click the hardware tab, and select the device manager button. That would show you the device manager window. From the list of hardwares listed in the window, right click on network adaptors, properties and under the power management tab uncheck all the power options checkboxes. Now you can close all the windows and try to go to sleep mode again. You can also try disconnecting the USB devices as you try going to sleep mode and see if that works, if yes, try connecting the USB devices one at a time and check again.

When I select sleep or hibernate mode - the monitor stays black...

Hit the keyboard keys. It is better to just turn sleep and hibernate off and just use a screen saver or tun it off.
