Question about Dell Dimension 2400 PC Desktop

1 Answer

Hi - After using a projector recently, all websites that I pull up on my HP laptop (in either firefox or IE) are very big and I can't see the left or right edges. I've checked properties on my desktop and viewing size within IE. Any suggestions?

Thanks. To answer your question, the desktop icons are not bigger. I checked out websites in google chrome and the same thing happens. My screen resolution is set at 1024x768. How do I check if my video drivers are not working? Videos play on all websites.

    Hi Xazoola -

Sadly that only decreases text size. For me the problem is that the entire layout of the site is too big. It's not a text problem but an overall height/width of site issue.

Make sure you have not lost the video drivers. If windows is not using video drivers for your card it will default to standard VGA. Are the desktop icons bigger? is it only IE/Firefox? Check the screen properties and let us know what Screen Resolutions are available.

Try doing this. Start firefox. hold down the Ctrl button. Press "-" (minus) twice and watch the screen. If it shrinks do it again dont let off the Ctrl button. Keep hitting '-' (twice) until it shrinks to a size you like.

btw, you dont have to hit Control - twice, it just makes the changes more obvious. you can just do "Ctrl -" or "Ctl +" to make it bigger.

my email address is can you send a screen shot? Press "Print Screen" then open mspaint, mspaint should open a default paint project, do a Ctrl "v" to paste it into mspaint. Save it and attache it to an email. I need to get a visual.

As i was saying last night. The screen shots you sent look normal on my computer. Can you take a picture with cell phone or a digital camera and email them to me? Also, look for a key labled "Fn" on your computer. Then look at the Fn keys at the top of your computer. If you hold down the Fn key and select one of the Function keys at the top of the screen the will perform a function. That Fn key is usally blue and a matching F key at the top will have it's function in blue. It is usally a picture. Look for one that resembles a computer screen and press it while holding down the Fn key at the bottom of the laptop. This may change resolutions of the laptop.

I keep getting a message that "a problem caused the program to stop working properly. Windows will close program and notify you if solution is found." Its Internet Explorer and no solution has come!

To be quite honest I have found that this happens quite a lot with IE. If you want or need to continue using IE, then make sure that you have the most up-to-date version by checking with the MS website here:
Internet Explorer
and if you are not fully up-to-date, download and install the latest version for your Windows version.
Alternatively you could use Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox, both of which are more stable than IE. If you go to the google search homepage, there is a link to download chrome there and you can download Firefox from here:
Download Firefox Free Web Browser
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya

How to delete most visited website pictures from my screen

If you are talking about the Windows 8 Start screen, you can right click on any box, and select "unpin". If you are talking about website picture history, go under TOOLS and select DELETE History for IE, or go under HISTORY and select Clear Recent History under Firefox.

Has anyone else had trouble uploading documents to a website from hp scan and capture pdf format?

Hi Charlotte,...
Try using a different browser (IE, Firefox, Chrome) from what you're currently attempting to use to upload your document. It could be a compatibility issue with the site and browser. Give it a shot.

F11 doesn't work as fullscreen toggle for Windows 8

Have you tried the fn key (bottom left, next to ctrl key)?

On my HP laptop running Windows 8.1, pressing f11 mutes the speaker (as per the logo on the key top) and fn+f11 in IE & Firefox toggles full screen.

Yahoo email website keeps crashing.

Online emailing uses very complex coding and some browsers can get confused. Have you installed any add-ons recently? This could be the cause, otherwise the best option is probably to try another browser such as Firefox, IE, Chrome, Opera etc.

I am using a Compaq Presario V3000 laptop - 2yrs old. Recently my laptop speed has been too slow. IE is not connecting to any website. However internet is connected i.e. Yahoo & Skype are working

Please run system restore to factory default but backup your documents first.

Try another browser like Opera or Firefox.

Good luck.

rate this please.

Internet explorer is not responding on my laptop it goes for about 5 minutes and then says internet explorer not responding so I cant get on the internet it was fine this morning

If you are using IE 6 this is a common problem with HP, try getting a copy of Firefox 3 and then go to and download a copy of IE7.
You may prefer to use Firefox instead as your main browser.
