Question about Dell Dimension 2400 PC Desktop

1 Answer

Hi - After using a projector recently, all websites that I pull up on my HP laptop (in either firefox or IE) are very big and I can't see the left or right edges. I've checked properties on my desktop and viewing size within IE. Any suggestions?

Thanks. To answer your question, the desktop icons are not bigger. I checked out websites in google chrome and the same thing happens. My screen resolution is set at 1024x768. How do I check if my video drivers are not working? Videos play on all websites.

    Hi Xazoola -

Sadly that only decreases text size. For me the problem is that the entire layout of the site is too big. It's not a text problem but an overall height/width of site issue.

Make sure you have not lost the video drivers. If windows is not using video drivers for your card it will default to standard VGA. Are the desktop icons bigger? is it only IE/Firefox? Check the screen properties and let us know what Screen Resolutions are available.

Try doing this. Start firefox. hold down the Ctrl button. Press "-" (minus) twice and watch the screen. If it shrinks do it again dont let off the Ctrl button. Keep hitting '-' (twice) until it shrinks to a size you like.

btw, you dont have to hit Control - twice, it just makes the changes more obvious. you can just do "Ctrl -" or "Ctl +" to make it bigger.

my email address is can you send a screen shot? Press "Print Screen" then open mspaint, mspaint should open a default paint project, do a Ctrl "v" to paste it into mspaint. Save it and attache it to an email. I need to get a visual.

As i was saying last night. The screen shots you sent look normal on my computer. Can you take a picture with cell phone or a digital camera and email them to me? Also, look for a key labled "Fn" on your computer. Then look at the Fn keys at the top of your computer. If you hold down the Fn key and select one of the Function keys at the top of the screen the will perform a function. That Fn key is usally blue and a matching F key at the top will have it's function in blue. It is usally a picture. Look for one that resembles a computer screen and press it while holding down the Fn key at the bottom of the laptop. This may change resolutions of the laptop.

I keep getting a message that "a problem caused the program to stop working properly. Windows will close program and notify you if solution is found." Its Internet Explorer and no solution has come!

To be quite honest I have found that this happens quite a lot with IE. If you want or need to continue using IE, then make sure that you have the most up-to-date version by checking with the MS website here:
Internet Explorer
and if you are not fully up-to-date, download and install the latest version for your Windows version.
Alternatively you could use Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox, both of which are more stable than IE. If you go to the google search homepage, there is a link to download chrome there and you can download Firefox from here:
Download Firefox Free Web Browser
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya

Uninstall this site

This site is not an application and it does not get installed, it is only stored on your browser, so if you use IE, internet explorer , go to control panel, internet options, and delete temp files and all cookies, if you use Firefox, which is 100 times better and safer the IE, go to tools and clear recent history.

Adobe flash plug in has been crushed

If the flash player has crashed once, then it may not be a problem but if this is occurring repeatedly, then try to upgrade your flash player. If your flash player is up-to-date, then it may be the incompatibility between the flash player and the web-browser. In that case, try to have both the most recent updated browsers, like Mozilla Firefox 4, Google Chrome 12 or IE 8 or IE 9 and corresponding updated flash player.

To download latest softwares, click on the links below:
  1. Adobe Flash Player IE (for Internet Explorer, Avant, etc)
  2. Adobe Flash Player Non-IE (for Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera, etc)
  3. Mozilla Firefox 4 RC
  4. Google Chrome 12 Beta
If you use Firefox or Chrome as browser, then Flash Player for Non-IE is sufficient, but still I recommend you to install both the IE and Non-IE flash players.

Hope this helps,

Facebook won't pull up

If you are using Internet Explorer, I'd try downloading a different browser such as Mozilla Firefox. I'm not bashing IE, but by downloading a different browser, it will isolate the problem letting you know if it's a problem with IE or something bigger.

If it works with the new browser, you should reset your IE settings in Tools<Internet Options. Click on the Advanced tab, then click "Reset".

Good Luck!

I get this error everytime I try and use IE I can't use IE it wont launch runtime error! program:c:\program files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe this application has requested the runtime to...

you can try to re-install IE, go to control panel then open Add/Remove programs, on the left side of the Add/Remove programs applet click Add/Remove windows components, under Components look for internet explorer then uncheck it then click next, IE will now be uninstalled. Then reinstall it, just like previous process on Add/Remove windows components put a check on internet explorer then click next.

If this wont solve the problem, you can try a third party browser like firefox, download firefox on this site:, after downloading firefox just double-click it then just follow the installation.
