Check to make sure you don't have a manual switch on your laptop, I have a Lenovo T60p the switch is in the front so some times I pick it up and I kind of turn the switch half on and half off. Same result no internet until I turn it all the way to the on position and reboot. As far as the turn on and off sounds like it could be a battery issue. Try running your laptop without the battery in it and use just the power cord to see if you get the same result.

If you think it's a virus try booting up in safe mode with networking and see if you can connect using the wireless and also try wired to your wireless router.

A wifi adapter on a hp lap top

Your question is vague, but ill point out some common, unknown issues. Not all devices can connect to all HotSpots, wifi networks can use many different security protocols and also frequencies. For example, my Asus router supports both 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz wifi, but my brand new Lenovo laptop only supports 2.4. 4_29_2014_3_58_06_am.png

The wireless in my lap top will stop working for 30 seconds or so then start working again. Is my wireless card messed up?

It might be, but it could just be a software issue (common).

Lap top WI-FI does not work with this signal showing connections...however, did work a few days ago. Using HP laptop Pavilion.

Make sure you didn't accidentally hit or tap the wireless button as that shuts off all internet connecting abilities.

Can not get my router to conect with my laptoop

Couple of questions:

1) Does your laptop see any wireless networks? If yes then you know the laptop wireless adapter is working. If not, you need to look at the properties for the wireless adapter in the laptop. This may be disabled or misconfigured.

2) If step 1 proves the laptop is seeing other networks, can you verify that the router is actually broadcasting a SID? You may need to login to the router and verify the wireless configuration is correct.

Good luck and if you need more help please reply with the router make/model number along with the laptop make/model and the operating system you are using.
