Re: printer is saying scanner is locked, unlock scanner
In the section where the paper exits the printer, there is a blue latch. Pull it towards you. It does take a little pressure to pull. You may need to press cancel a few times. That should clear it out. If it doesn't, The scanning unit assemply needs replaced...or the printer itselft which ever is cheaper.

Many scanners contain a scanning head lock to keep the scanning head from moving during shipping. This may still be still be in the lock position. All scanners are different but check the documentation on how to remove the head lock.
To unlock a scanner open it where you would put cartridges in and look
for a red or green colored tab hanging down. There should be a little
picture of a padlock. You can switch it from lock to unlock. It's kept
locked to protect the scanner during shipping.
There is a safety lock on the scanner that may be in the locked
position. Turn the unit off and locate the green lock lever/switch
under the scanner where the paper comes out. It will be labeled with a
icon (picture) of a lock (unlocked and locked). Move it to the unlocked
and locked position multiple times, ending up in the unlocked position.
It may be stuck so moving it back and forth may release it. Turn it
back on and try it.
