You need a transponder bypas module as the key has a chip in it. Your choicfes are getting a "hide a key" box and putting an extra key in it then wire as stated in the instructions OR, get a hard wire piece that doesn't require a key but needs 2 keys to program.

Was thatn a mouthfull?? Without that it won't start. To verify this, stick a key in the ignition WITHOUT turning it on. Now try remote start and it will stay running. Let me know if you wantpart numbers. I can also e-mail people with te entire vehicles wire coors and location!!

Viper 5101 no longer starts

are your brake lights functioning properly? remote starts sometimes use this as a fail safe, or a bent hood pin switch? Also It may need the tach reprogrammed if used. there may be a seperate fuse for the starter.
here is the link to the installation manual: http://www.directeddealers.com/manuals/ig/viper/n4102v_2008_09_web.pdf
and the page regarding this issue: • The remote start will activate, but the starter never engages.
1. Check for voltage on the purple starter wire two seconds after the remote
start becomes active. If there is voltage present, skip to Step 4. If there is
not voltage present, advance to Step 2.
2. Check the 30A fuses.
3. If the gray/black wait-to-start wire is detecting ground upon activation, the
starter will not crank.
4. Make sure the purple starter wire is connected on the starter side of the
optional starter kill/anti-grind relay.
5. Does the vehicle have an immobilizer? Some immobilizer systems will not
allow the vehicle to crank if active.
6. Check connections. The heavy gauge remote start input wires on the
heavy gauge 10-pin connector should have a solid connection. "T-taps"
or "scotch locks" are not recommended for any high current heavy gauge
wiring.
good luck.

I bought a used Ford Crown Victoria with an Avital system installed and the seller told me the way the system was setup was using the keyless entry to unlock the doors as the only way to start the car

The way the system was set up?! Here is what it sounds like. If you cannot start the car with the key but, you can start it with the remote starter means two things; the car has a starter inhibit installed and it's active or, the starter wire is cut and isolated from the ignition cylinder and the remote starter is connected to the starter side only of said cut wire.
About the keyless entry; Ford vehicle have a battery save mode that, after 10 minutes or so, the GEM module goes to sleep. The installation of a keyless entry system on these vehicles require connections at the unlock, driver's door ajar/latch wire and factory alarm disarm and programmed to double pulse. This will wake up the GEM and unlock the doors.

I installed prostart remote starter in 2002 Sonoma, used xpresskit bypass module to bypass passlock 2, truck started with remote ,now won;t start with remote, have to reset and start with truck key

If you are sure that everything is connected properly, then the only explanation could the ground when running from the remote starter to the bypass. If you are using data to data(D2D), switch over to wire to wire. Test the ground when running connection from the remote starter (white) to the ground when running connection of the Xpresskit (blue). You could even go so far as to connect the ground when running of the bypass to constant ground for the test. You CANNOT leave this wire connected to chassis ground.
Also, that vehicle has a second ignition wire(white) that MUST BE power up for remote start. If not, it will trigger the check engine light.

I have a prestage remote starter, my car is 2008 ford explorer, after a few days my car will not start, it makes a clicking sound

The vehicles makes a clicking sound when using the remote starter? Does the vehicle make the same sound when attempting to start with key? If so, this sounds like an issue with the vehicle not having enough power to start the car or, there is an issue with the vehicles starter.

I am attempting to install a Python 1401 in my 2000 Mazda Familia also know as the Protege. I have connect the majority of the wires and tested the system. The horn and locking system seems to be working...

Make sure that the neutral safety wire (small black with white) sees a chassis ground. If you connected the toggle switch to the wire, confirm that the other side of that wire is connected to a good ground. Confirm that the hood pin switch wire (gray) is NOT seeing ground during remote start. All of the above are relevant for a vehicle with an automatic transmission. If the clicking sound that you hear is also flashing the parking lights, that is a remote starter error message. Six flashes concern the hood shutdown (-) or the brake shutdown(+). Seven flashes concern the neutral safety shutdown.

I have a prestige remote start alarm. When i try the remote star, it does not turn on and makes the noise (melody) it would make when i would turn it off. 2000 Chvrolet silverado

Could be several causes for this...most likely there's a safety check feature that keeping the remote start from activating. Most remote start systems have a shutdown diagnostic feature that will indicate why the system is immediately shutting down before the remote start is activating. Check in the installation manual towards the back for how to initiate the shutdown diagnostics for your particular model. Some basic things that would keep a remote start from working would be the brake wire connected incorrectly, an improperly installed hood pin, no tachometer signal programmed, or improper starter wire connections. If everything seems to check out ok, put a voltmeter in the yellow 12 gauge wire at the ignition harness and see if you get 12 volts during both crank with the key and crank via the remote starter. If you don't get anything during crank with the remote starter than there's an underlying issue that needs to be addressed first to pinpoint the exact problem. Remote starter

It sounds like your car is hooked up for voltage sense instead of running a tachometer wire. If you have run a tach wire you'll need to program the tach signal and make sure your remote start options are set for that.
