I decided to give our dyson dc07 a thorough cleaning since we continually have a strong dog odor when vacuuming. I removed the cyclone unit from the machine and then removed the clear bin unit.
I cleaned the pre-motor filter and then removed the top of the cylcone unit and cleaned it as well. I then replaced the filter (after it had thoroughly dryed) and reattached the top unit to the cyclone.
The trigger that opened the clear bin base no longer works. Actually it works but the base won't swing open. I've opend and reattached the top numerous time now and am puzzled as to why it base won't open since the rod attached to the top looks like it is designed to fit into the slot in the cyclone unit.
Just had the same problem. Finally realised what to do. Pull the long rod away from the top against its spring (by the rubber gaiter) and whilst holding it, undo the screw holding the long rod to the top trigger mechanism. Now you can wiggle the rod part free (careful of the plastic lug on the side opposite the screw). Now, you can look down through the cyclone whilst inserting the rod properly into the releaser at the bottom and open the base. Reassemble the rod into the top. NOW reinsert it into the cyclone with the base door OPEN and using two fingers locate the rod into the releaser lever. Now you can close the door. Phew. Hope this is clear enough as a guide.

To remove DC24's clear bin from the cyclone pack, first remove the clear bin and cyclone from the vacuum, and press the red bin base release trigger to open the bin base - as if you were emptying the machine. Then with the bin base still open, look at the rear of the cyclone pack for a silver catch - this catch will allow you to disengage the clear bin.
With the clear bin removed, you can use a soft brush or a dry cloth to remove any debris from the perforated shroud. Please note, the cyclone pack should never be washed or submerged in water as this can cause damage to your machine not covered under guarantee.
I hope this helps, but if you'd like any further advice on using or maintaining your DC24, please give our experts a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).
I am sorry to hear you are having difficulty opening your clear bin. The mechanism that releases the bin base is actually part of your cyclone assembly. When you pull the trigger, a small clip at the bottom of your cyclone releases the bin base. If this clip is missing or broken, part replacement may be needed to resolve the issue.
You can call us directly to order the the cyclone assembly at 0800 298 0298 (UK) or 1-866-693-9766 (US). The part is also available on our website.
the bagless containers of these vacuums do tend to hold a strong dust odor. the only way ive found to help eliminate it is with a product that i use called FreshWave odor neutralizing pearls. you never want to use fine dust carpet freshener or any product like that cause it will eventually burn up your motor. but if you are interested give me a call and i can ship you some of the freshwave. 703-724-1112

Empty the bin in the usual way. Leaving the bottom door open, raise the small catch on the front of the bin, towards the top. Pull the front of the bin down when this catch is held open and the clear bin will disengage from the top lug at the back. The whole clear outer bin them can be removed dowards to enable the cyclonic air wholes to be totally cleaned.
This is for the DC07 all floors but I asume all DC07s to be the same.
This is a tricky solution to describe so I have linked a video I made on how to clean the radix assembly of a Dyson DC07. Have a look at the video it should be pretty clear what you need to do. If you find you need parts for your Dyson check out Nelson Vacuums or VacuumSpot.
If this is a helpful video please take a quick moment to give me a thumbs up, a comment or a testimonial I like to hear back from you guys.
