Question about Symbol MC50 Pocket PC

Open Question

I can't get my symbol mc50 to connect to a wireless server

Usually it won't accept the IP address, but when it does it says wireless network out of range...even if my computer is connected to the network, and even if the pocketpc is right next to the computer and the modem

The arrows say I've got connection, all the internals are ok, but it won't download my orders to an ftp site.

same problem. Won't connect. Says "network out of range" at the same time - signal strength is "Good"! WTF?

There doesn't seem to be any way to troubleshoot the connection either.

SOURCE: reload operating system in symbol mc50

As you know a cold boot will not help you here.

You need to access the IPL loader.

Press and hold the Power button and both Scan buttons, then press the Reset button. When the mobile computer resets into IPL, release the Power button and Scan buttons.

Welcome to Fixya

Routers has DHCP capability which enables them to provide IP address to computers and this is automatic unless you set the the router to manual. Inorder for you to verify this capability, you need to connect a computer to the router and go to command prompt of the computer and type ipconfig. If you are not getting any IP address then the problem is the router.

Please get back to me for any update.

Thank you for using Fixya!

Cannot turn off flight mode on an MC50 so it will not transmit to my wireless network

Cannot turn off flight mode on an MC50 so it will not transmit to my wireless network Ekse: I see your having issues with your Symbol MC50 pocket pc / phone? the flightmode is stuck on? Ekse: are you there? Ekse: I guess you are not there but I think I can solve this problem and hopefully you will see my comments at some point Read more Ekse: First you should try performing a normal reset Ekse: there is the small reset button on the back of the unit. perform the normal reset and see if the problem persists Ekse: if the problem persists back up any data from the phone to your computer, and then perform a hard reset, Howl down the power and right scan buttons, then press and release the reset, and then let go of the power and right scan buttons. Ekse: the hard reset wipes the handheld and returns it to factory defaults, you will be online after the hard reset. then just restore your data from your desktop computer and your good to go. Ekse: if you need further assistance you can reach me on email - or on the website.

Symbol will not send changes to POS system

I had setup the symbol on one of our client computers not the server computer which caused a problem with syncing the inventory information with Restaurant Pro Express. With RPE there is a single "server" computer that all of the client computers send and receive their information to and from. The Symbol MC50 must be setup on this server in order for the information to sync properly.

Cant connect to a server

Check your wireless connection to see if you are connected to any network.
Go to Start-Setting-Connections-Connections-Advanced-Select Networks and set the appropriate connection.
Create the 'connection_name' profile with the correct TCP/IP parameters.
