My webcam when i go on my msn, i choose to do a webcam thing and it always says. 'We couldn't start your camera device. Please check that your camera is not currently in use by another program' and it never is, ive done nearlly everthing and it still doent work! can u help me.

restart your computer and try again.

if that fails uninstall MSN via the control panel. install MSN restart.

First download and install the Windows 7 driver from the manufacturer's web site. Then reboot your computer. To select webcams in MSN click Tools, Audio & Video set up, Next. It should give you the option to choose what camera you want to use. In Skype it is under Settings, Cameras. You can always test it on the free webcam test tool.

This is just a proposal.
The first ting i wold do is to make shore the best driver for the camera i installed
when this is in order i wold try to install msn again by doing it like this:
First download and make shore you have the newest version of MSN.
Uninstall ( if possible) MSN.
Install the new MSN when the integrated camera is working properly.
MSN should find the camera by it self i believe.
In Control panel choose System; Device Manager.
Right click mouse over Camera.
Chose properties and then Update driver.

Test your webcam here to make sure it broadcasts OK - Hit 'Allow' in the top window and check your cam in the left hand panel.

Having proved your cam is working ,you can configure it to WLM (MSN)

CONFIGURE SOFTWARE to MSN
Its good practice to disconnect and re-connect your webcam before you start - if you have been using it elsewhere the MSN software may have difficulty in locating it, even if you exited the previous program correctly.
The reason being, the webcam software can remain hooked-up to a program and needs to be rebooted.
Mine, I just unplug it from the USB and plug it back in to reboot the software.
If yours is integral with the computer you will have to re-start the computer, use a keyboard shortcut or disable / enable the webcam from the Device Manager.

Open MSN
Click 'Open Menu'
From 'Tools', navigate to, and click, 'Audio and Video setup'
Set your speakers
Click 'Test' - if OK, move on.
Set your mic as default
Use the slider to set volume and test.
Click 'Next'
This takes you to the video setup
Your webcam should be broadcasting - if not - make sure the webcam is set as default - restart MSN
Use 'Webcam Settings'to fine tune the picture.
Click 'Finish'

this is the error msn i get when iam trying to use my camera in msn messenger on all other i can use ? whats the reason ?

There a couple of things you can check - Firstly can you access your webcam via a shortcut and access any of the normal features, the easiest thing to check is will it take a still picture?

If that doesn't work - Go to control panel from your start bar and check device manager, can you find your webcam in the list of devices and does it appear in cameras and webcams?

If you can access the webcam features the problem is not related to your web cam but the software.

Tell me how you get on with the above, and there are a few more simple things to check or change to make sure you can get your webcam in MSN.

Adjust your browser security setting to allow webcams if you have flash micro media you will see the camra security but if you go to internet setting you can ajust the broswer setting from there .make sure that your firewall allow your webcam .then let me know how you did

Unistall Windows Live Messenger
Erase the installation folder and this (XP): .\Documents and Settings\All Users\WLinstaller (or something that begins with WL and sound like that)
in Vista is in .\ProgramData\
REBOOT: REALLY IMPORTANT, I DID IT WITHOUT REBOOT AND DIDN'T WORK
After reboot, reinstall.
And everything's done.

Make sure you are not running the Desktop Icon program first. The camera can only be used by one program at a time.
Now login to Messenger, and click
Tools > Audio and Video Setup, and click Next past the audio settings, and choose USB Video Device from the list. It should work after a couple of seconds. If that doesn't work, try the other device drivers from the list, waiting a couple of seconds each time, until you can see some output in the window. Then apply and you're ready to go.
It's the same deal with Skype, except it's in
Tools > Options > Audio Settings.

I know a lot of people are having problems with the acer cam
if you updated msn try going back to your old version
or if you have'nt updated it you can try that.
The only other thing is to uninstall cam and reinstall
I've had to that so many times on my acer crystal eye cam
