Question about Microsoft Internet Explorer 7

2 Answers

Page by email and Link by email failed after SP3

After updating to IE7 and SP3 the Page by email and Link by email will not work. After clicking on either one my Yahoo email compose page comes up but the Page or Link does not come with it in the email body. It always worked before the updating. The answers on Google said to copy the whole page but I want the option back. Thanks.

Register Outlook Express as the Default E-mail Program

    loadTOCNode(2, 'moreinformation');

To register Outlook Express as the default mail program on your computer, use one of the following methods:

    • In Outlook Express:

      1. In Outlook Express, click Tools, and then click Options.
      2. On the General tab, the Default Messaging Programs section states Outlook Express is NOT the default mail handler; click Make Default, and then click OK.
      3. Try to send mail from a link or another program.

    • In Internet Options:

      1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
      2. Double-click the Internet Options icon, and then click the Programs tab.
      3. Under Internet Programs, click the E-mail list, and then click Outlook Express.
      4. Click Apply, and then click OK.
      5. Try to send mail from a link or another program.

    • From the Run line (if the Outlook Express and Internet Options methods do not register Outlook Express as the default e-mail program, use this method):

      1. Click Start.
      2. Click Run.
      3. Type the following line, including the quotation marks, where drive is the letter of the drive in which Outlook Express is installed, and then click OK:
        "drive:\program files\outlook express\msimn.exe" /reg

To add the data string to the default mail client key:

    1. Start Registry Editor; click Start, click Run, and then type regedit.
    2. Locate the following key in the registry:
      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail\Outlook Express
    3. In the left pane, click Outlook Express. Two values should be displayed in the right pane: one is Default, which has a value of Outlook Express, and the other is DLLPath, which contains the path to Msoe.dll on your computer.
    4. If the DLLPath value is not present, click Edit, point to New, and then click String Value.
    5. New Value #1 is displayed, with the text selected. Type DllPath, and then press the ENTER key.
    6. Double-click the new DLLPath value to open it. In the Value Data box, type the path to the Msoe.dll file on your computer, for example:
      drive:\PROGRAM FILES\OUTLOOK EXPRESS\MSOE.DLL
    7. Click OK, and then quit Registry Editor.
    8. Try to send mail from a link or another program.

Missing tool bar when I uploaded to Explorer 7. I cant click on tools to get it back because I dont have a tool bar to acces

Try to uninstall IE7. Once it's removed, restart your computer then it will revert back to the older version IE6. After that you can opt to install IE7 again or much better a newer version like 8 or 9.

To uninstall IE7, kindly follow these steps:
  1. Close all programs.
  2. Click Start and then click Control Panel.
  3. Click Uninstall a Program under the Programs category
  4. In the Tasks pane, click View installed updates.
  5. In the list of installed updates, double-click Windows Internet Explorer 7. In the Uninstall an update dialog box, click Yes.

Note If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.
  6. Follow the instructions to uninstall Internet Explorer 7.
  7. When the uninstall program is finished, restart your computer.
  8. After you restart your computer, open Internet Explorer. Click Help>About Internet Explorer and check if it's on version 6. If it is then proceed with upgrading to a higher version again.

    Hope this helps.

I need to change my internet explorer 8 to internet explorer 7 & i have windows vista

Hi,
Click on the start menu (orb), go to the Control Panel and select Programs & Features. From the list of installed software locate IE8 and uninstall it.

Restart your computer and download IE7 from here (its say's it's for XP, just ignore that it will work on Vista)

May i also recommend Mozilla Firefox. This much easier and faster than any version of Internet Explorer. Get it here >>>>>

Check for Active-X and Java Controls in the Internet Options. Assure that everything is set to Prompt and then work backwards from there to increase security.

This fix works for both missing IE7 tabs and missing Desktop icon in Display Properties. Good luck!

Open up a command prompt (cmd.exe from "run") and enter the following;

REG ADD "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer" /V ClassicShell /T REG_DWORD /F /D 0

This should sort out your problem.

Unable to work with Internet Explorer... :-(

It sounds as though the IE7 application may be corrupted. Try removing IE7.

To Remove IE7: Go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > Select Internet Explorer 7 > Select Remove. IE is a core component of XP. Hence, your machine will revert to IE6. Reboot pc. If you like IE7, visit Microsoft and download a fresh copy.

Good luck.

Yahoo Email is not working at home or at work.

Try to open your yahoo account at http://www.thatweb.com

OR

http://www.dslreports.com/front/DRTCP021.exe

Click on that link and a window would come up to ask you to SAVE or OPEN, click on OPEN and you would see another window and at the bottom right hand side you would see a space that says MTU..you have to put 1492, then on the left side of that where it says adapter settings make you have the correct adapter selected, then clink on save and then exit and reboot your PC and tried one more time to access your hotmail and yahoo account and let us know..

OR

Do these settings in your browser:
Security and Privacy set too High. Go to IE7 > Tools > Internet Options > Privacy >
Slider bar to Medium High > Apply > OK. = Tools > Internet Options > Security > Slider
bar to Medium High > Apply > OK.
