Question about Intel 845GE Motherboard

1 Answer

Cerfer, I bought a replacement motherboard for emachines 2095. The replacement part didn't have the fan harness bracket onboard, like the one I'm replacing has. They say you can pop the bracket pins out of hthe motherboard, but I've tried and get nowhere.

I am assuming that you are talking about the fan for the cpu (computer processing unit)? If yes, and if it is an intel fan it should come out with you twisting the pins (counter clockwise i think, there should be arrows show what way to turn.) After you have twisted them just pull them up and it should come out nicely. If you were not talking about the cpu fan please clarify what fan you are talking about.

Have a great day

Space bar faulty as well?

Open the case and remove the video card and reseat it. If that doesn't work, you need a new video card.

The motherboard doesn't beep for standalone video cards. If the motherboard has onboard video you can try and getting into the bios by tapping F2, F10, or Delete at boot up. If the onboard VGA video works, you can select onboard video until you can replace the video card.

I'd have to agree; bad power regulator on the motherboard.
The board is getting some power (3-5v) since the CPU fans move, but it's not getting the 12v it needs to power the processor, RAM, etc. (No onboard power LED). Sorry for the bad news!

You can disable the onboard by visiting your bios.

On boot it will tell you to press del f8 f2 etc to enter the setup from there you can navigate around to disable the onboard and choose the lane your older pci card is in.

Did you have onboard video before? What is the video card? AGP8x, AGP4x, PCIe? If you had onboard video, you'll need to change the settings in the BIOS and disable the onboard video. You'll have to plug in at the onboard to access the BIOS.
