Re: Changing DVD and CD lazer lens
I work for Coby technical support. Our customer service phone number is 1-800-727-3592.
Coby is a company whose electronics cannot be repaired because there are no spare parts available. If you were to find an after-market company that sales parts such as a laser lens for the dvd mechanism, you would want an electronics repair person to install it for you. Unfortunately, I don't know of any company that sales such parts, and the repair would cost you more than a new player would cost.

This could be for two reasons....most likely a dirty/scratched lens ....or because of malfunction of disc drive motor....cleaning the lens gently may help...if lens is scratched....then the entire read head would need change...
Clean lens first ....if no improvement, try changing drive motor....and lastly the read assembly....which requires expertise and being adept at repairing...
there are two possibilities a deffective spindle motor and a worn out lazer lens.
clean first the lens with a cotton buds dip in an alcohol gently wipe the lens.you need to open the cover of the dvd in order for you to do the cleaning.if cleaning do not work replace the lens or check the spindle motor this motor is the one spinning the CD.be sure that the cd is spinning once played... good luck pease click the four thumbs up button for answering your free question
HI. the optical lens assembly has failed. this units optical assembly is one whole piece. the actual issue here is a failed spin motor but, due to the fact that the assembly is integrated, you will need to have the entire assembly replaced.
have you tried cleaning the lens? do not use cotton buds or touch the lens , use a dvd lens cleaning cd , as there may be dirt on your lens or the discs are dirty, if this does not work it is possible that you require to have the lazer replaced. good luck
where you say u have cleaned the lens have you been in side it, if so does the dvd spin round when you put a disc in, if it does and it doesnt read try a cd in it if it reads that then it will be the lazer, if it doesnt read it it could still be the lazer but could be a few other things like spin motor.
