Question about Apple AirPort Extreme Base Station 802.11g/b

Open Question

I have AirPort Extreme  (0x14E4, 0x8C) on my 2008 imac (10.5.6). When I create a network, it'll work fine.  However, once the computer goes to sleep, the network disappears, and the default network appears when I log back in.  Problem is, the default network has my name in it (from when I first set-up the computer), for all the world to see.  How do I either change that, or fix the disappearing network?

SOURCE: imac AirPort Extreme (0x14E4, 0x8C) to wifi

On the iMac choose Create Network... from the Airport menu. Then the Gateway laptop will be able to join the iMac's created network.

How can I connect my Imac with my Toshiba hdtv Series V4210U via airport extreme?

Does your Toshiba have a wireless adapter? If so, you can set up a home network, if you don't already have one. If no,Does the iMac have a VGA or HDMI connector? You can connect via a adapter cable, Vga to HDMI or a HDMI cable, depending on the iMac connections.

I have a small home computer network that uses an Apple Airport Extreme as the wireless access point. My Sony Vaio (Windows XP) desktop is where I have my local area connection and was the first computer...

Hi there, you should reinstall the drivers for the wireless network adopter for your Sony computer. You need to go to the website of the wireless adopter manufacturer and choose your model of adopter and download and install the drivers for the wireless adopter. Please feel free to ask me any question about this problem.

Can you help with apple airport extreme networking?

What kind of help do you need? That's a big topic! Describe to us your environment that you have . . . who is your broadband provider? What kind of Macs do you have? I have ATT uverse. I disabled their wireless ( slow ) and then added my Airport Extreme in bridged mode on the WAN side. On the LAN side, I chose an SSID, and 'created a network', and set the protocol to B/G with WPA/Personal authentication. It seems to work just fine . . .hope that helps!

Apple Extreme Network not picked up by Windows XP laptop.

it's a matter of who did what with whom and when they did it.

Vista came along when Apple and Microsoft had agreed to allow each other OS's to operate in each other's platforms with Intel performing the Core Duo marriage, but XP is the child from a previous generation when the two did not get along, though they knew of each other.

I know some actual marriages like that.

Didn't mean to be flippant, but XP is better than Vista in some respects and worse in this case.

I was told by HP that I could not use USB over a network. I Called Apple support and was hooked up through my Airport Extreme using USB. You want a better solution invest in a Mac. They have the know how and what they are doing. It's like comparing a Model T to a Cadillac when you tout PC's.

Airport Extreme 802.11g

At this point you are much better off installing a USB wireless antennae than spending money on an Airport card, cracking open the iMac, and installing it.

USB wireless adapters are cheap, plentiful, and have more capabilities than the generation of Airport cards that were made for G5 iMacs.

Wireless Modem don"t connect

well imac G4's don't  have built in airport (wireless internet) included as usual with apple its another item you must buy an airport extreme card  then hook it up to an airport base station another item to buy via wireless internet then hook you airport extreme base station up to your modem via ethernet. whew ok now sync the airport base station to your imac using airport set up application then select your network and type your WEP password and viol internet in about 1 hour if your lucky hope this helped my fingers hurt now LOL.
