I was already aware of that, what I would like to know if it is possible to test which one ,the key pad or the printed circuit board, is the dysfunctional component and if i would be able to order.

If the display show WELCOME PRESS CLEAR AND PRESS CLOCK then the integrated circuit board is working , what is not working is the keypad.

Check the keypad ribbon cable and connector first, if it is well connected, then replace the keypad.

You can find diagrams and replacement parts by entering model number here.

Do not buy any parts for this unit. wait for 2-3 days for the moisture to naturally dry out.
what has happend, as you know, is steam has entered the touch pad and is not allowing the control board to recognize what you are touching.
this is because the touch pad is 2 pieces of plastic with metal strips on each of them.
when you push the button it makes the metal strips come together and that sends a signal to the computer control board.
you wont be able to dry this out with any amount of heat. just wait for a few days, with the unit unplugged, and then you should have a working unit again.
next time your wife cooks on the stove, just use the exhaust fan and that will keep the steam from getting into the microwave controls.

Thanks for letting me help you! It still sounds like moisture intrusion and you may not find all the moisture that could have gotten in there. Most of the time it is recommended to unplug the unit for 30 seconds, then plug it in and see if everything runs ok.

Hello , here is the fix- you must replace the switch membrane , sounds like you have already had it out , it is the thin panel with the buttons connected to it. The moisture may not have caused this , it is a very common part for failure. if you need help ordering let me know. sears seems to have the best prices on line. If you have any further questions let me know.

You must keep it dry first. Wait for sometime it will work fine after when it is completely dry because the circuit is short circuited with moisture.

Hi

It sounds like the control panel or the keyboard is faulty and might need to be replaced, I assume you have no warranty on it anymore as you have taken it apart.

parts for your microwave are available here
http://www.repairclinic.com/Appliance-Parts?s=t-PLMV169DCD-%3d%3d

everything else is probably fine on the microwave.

You can test the keys with a basic multimeter the issue is more likely on the control board.

Frigidaire microwave key shows a lock and no keys work

Here is a previous answer that might be of help.......

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If it is still locked or goes into lock mode by itself, the "clear" key on your keypad may be shorting.
Here's how the child lock works on model FMV145:

Child Lock-Out
You may lock the control panel to prevent
the microwave from being accidentally
started or used by children.
To lock or unlock the controls, press and
hold CLEAR/OFF for about three
seconds. When the control panel is
locked, an "L" will be displayed to the
extreme right.

Change time on frigidaire microwave no clock button

Hi ssullivan013 - Here are some generics instructions that I found for the model number posted above. Hope the information is helpful.

Suppose you want to enter the correct time of day 12:30 (A.M or P.M.).

1. Touch Clock pad.

2. Enter time 1,2,3,0 and press CLOCK pad again

This is a 12 hour clock. If you attempt to enter an incorrect clock timer, ERROR will appear in the display. Touch the CLEAR/OFF pad and re-enter the time.

Reset the clock. Press "Clock" and the correct time, using the number pads. Press "AM/PM" if applicable, and press "Start" or "Clock" to confirm.

  • 2 Press "Timer On/Off" to reset the timer if nothing on the touch pad will operate. Use the number pads to select a new timed amount, if desired, and press "Timer On/Off" to start. Press again to cancel.
  • 3 Press and hold "Clear/Off" for three seconds if the timer will not function or is blinking when you touch the pads. This will release the "Child Lock" feature. Make a new touch pad selection.
  • 4 Disconnect power to the microwave if following Steps 1 through 3 does not resolve the blinking timer. Wait a few minutes, and then restore power to reset the microwave.

  • However if the problem persist the display board

We do not have a owners manual and we just purchased the new LG Convention range LSB5682SW and we would like to know how to set the timer and the clock. I am not that savvy when it comes to th ese things...

You can get the manual here
    http://www.lg.com/us/support/product/support-product-profile.jsp?customerModelCode=LSB5682SW&matchedModelCode=NOT_MATCHED&searchEngineModelCode=LSB5682SW&initialTab=documents&targetPage=support-product-profile#
    SETTING THE CLOCK
The CLOCK pad is used to set the clock. The clock has been
preset at the factory for 12 hours operation. When the range
is first plugged in, or when the power supply to the range has
been interrupted, the timer in the display will show with
power failure "PF". You can make a choice between 12-hour
clock and 24-hour clock (refer to the page 28):
    1. Press CLEAR/OFF pad.
    2. Press CLOCK pad.
    3. Press 1, 3, 0 pads to set the time if the time of day is 1:30 (whatever the time is choose the correct numbers)

    4. Press START pad.
    The clock will start.

    CHANGING HOUR MODE ON
    CLOCK(12hr, 24hr)
Your control is set to use a 12-hour clock. If you would
prefer to have a 24-hour time clock, follow the steps below
    1. Press and hold COOK & WARM
pad for 3seconds. "OPt" will be
    displayed.
    2. Press "1" pad. The display will
    show "CLO 12H"
    3. Press "1" pad to switch between
    the "12H" and "24H".
    4. Press START pad to accept the
    desired change
I hope I have been of help but please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
I appreciate your vote if you appreciate my reply.

I have accidentally locked my microwave oven (profile performance convection oven). I was cleaning the front. Can you tell me what to do?

Got you covered. Here you go:

Microwave - Explanation of the Child Lock Out Feature
Many microwave control panels can be locked to prevent accidental use or access by children.
There are two different ways to lock the control panel:
    1. Press and hold the CLEAR/OFF pad for 3 seconds. The display will show "LOCK" and then revert to the time of day.
A small "L" will appear in the corner of the display as a reminder that the control panel is locked. If anyone tries to use the microwave, the display will show "LOCK".
    2. On some models, press and hold the 5 and 7 pads simultaneously for 3 seconds.
To unlock the control: Repeat the procedure which was used to lock the control. (Press and hold the CLEAR/OFF pad for about 3 seconds or hold the 5 and 7 pad simultaneously for 3 seconds.)

The clock works & counts down but the microwave won't heat

    • Disconnect the power for 30 seconds. After restoring power, do not set the clock.
    • If your model has an ON/OFF clock display, you can choose not to have the time displayed. To choose this option, press the 0 pad for about three seconds. To Turn the display back on, press the 0 again.

Touch the clock pad. Enter in the correct time of day by touching the numbers in sequence. Touch the clock pad again.
