I understand that your hot water runs out to fast when you use it. You state that this is a very old unit. The cause of this is calcium build up, their is not enough space in the water tank for water. You are suppose to flush your tank at least once a year to reduce calcium build up. Over many years this gets bigger and bigger and eventually the tank does not heat water at all. I would suggest looking in to purchasing a new tank, as the scale in it is like a big stone and will not break up and flush out of the system.

Cathy, since this is a recurring problem, it's best that you contact Delonghi Customer Care. In the USA call 800-322-3848. In Canada 888-335-6644. In Mexico 800-711-8805.

You might have a much bigger issue than the temp sensor. When the heater is running hold the "pool" or the "spa" button for 12 seconds. This will show the exhaust temp, if the temp is rising above 375 degrees with in 1-2 mins then your not getting the heat out of the heat exchanger.
One other thing to check would be an external by-pass. If you have an external by-pass make sure the by-pass is set correctly. Opened or closed to much can cause the problem your having.

I think your heater is probably worn out. I bought one of their units twenty plus years ago and did not do maintaence on it as I should have. It was used a lot as my wife was staying home and besides taking care of our own two she babysat for three or four more. By the time it started giving me trouble I took the back screen off and cleaned lots of dirt and lint out and got another two years out of it. When it quit a small section of the ceramic disc broke off and it was cost prohibitive to buy repair parts.
This is a very good unit but now it's jist less expensive to buy a new radiant heater every 3-4 years. Sorry I know that's not much help. Thank you.

Contact Rheem; the Burner control unit has lost comm with the remote...the part is warranteed for up to five years.

It sounds like the classic "timer problem" that requires a "kit" (mostly capacitors) to repair it. To have someone do it (such as your service person) for you can be expensive and time consuming. Sets that are 5 or more years old usually have other problems too which, simply put, is a complete cleaning of all mirrors, fans, and filters.

If you have cleaned your condensor located behind the bottom drawer, it sounds like you may have a sealed system problem and the unit is running long to keep up. This is under the five year parts and labor or the year 6 -12 parts only warranty. If it was a board problem and running all out you would not maintain desired temp. If you call the factory at 800-222-7820. They can walk through some more steps to narrow down exactly what you need to do.

Need more information.... Is this a whole house unit, a window unit or what? Model #?

The breaker would be in your basement or wherever your breaker box is. If it's a 220 unit, one side could be kicked if whoever hooked it up used 2 seperate breakers (very unusual but it's been done).
