Canon iP90 stopped printing in BLACK

The black ink started fading 2 days ago. So I cleaned and deep cleaned but the problem just got worse to the point where it does not print in black anyone. I even changed out the print cartridge TWICE thinking I have bad cartridges, but it did not solve the problem.

Can someone please help?

Thanks.

OK I had the same problem in 3 IP90 printers. Every time I tried to clean the black head (it's the single long one looking at it from the bottom). It would not print ever again. I used alcohol to clean them and they would just stop. So after it was not operating I tried something different. I wet a Que tip with hot water and wiped and pushed down hard on the black head. Left it wet. Replaced the black cartridge and put it back in the printer wet. I printed a black page and expected it not to work. Well to my surprise it now prints as good as it did when new. So I pulled out the other 2 printers I had the same problem with and yep they are all printing not just good put perfect. So my procedure is first clean head well with alcohol then try to print a page it will not print anything. Then remove head again. tale to bathroom wet que tip with hot water and clean it again this time with a little pressure. The que tip will get solid black. Then leaving the head wet. put back in printer replace black cartridge and print an all black printed page. You will be amazed. 2 years I have tried to figure these out and now I have!!

IP90 won't print black. Replaced ink, deep cleaned heads, etc. Will print color, but not black.

You probably need a new printhead, but there is also a new update for that machine to help clean the black part of the printhead. QY6-0052-000 is the printhead #

Replaced black ink, now it only prints in color -

If cleaning doesn't help, you may need a shop, there's a firmware update that helps with black printhead cleaning, try a couple of deep cleans first, you can select just black deep cleaning.

Ip90 printer does not print blac on a test after

Sounds like the printhead is plugged on the black side. A new printhead is #qy6-0052-000 around $40.00. That model also needs a firmware update to help it clean the printhead better.

Canon iP90 stopped printing in BLACK

hi... it might be that you need some time to let the ink absorb into the pads in the print heads ... this can take between a few hours and a day... Must be frustrating to deep clean three times and just seem that you are wasting ink cartridges, my "solution" would be to give it time or possibly clean the print heads manually.. hope it will solve it out..

thank u!!

IP90 WONT PRINT BLACK

I had this problem recently with my IP90. Both the black and color heads were clogged. After running the "canned" routines several times to clean the heads and deep clean the heads...still didn't help...here's what I did:

1. open the top lid to have the cartridges that are inserted in the print head move to the middle of the printer.
2. remove both cartridges
3. What is left there is the print head holder. Slightly move it to the right and gently lift the print head lock.
4. Grasp the print head and lift it out of the tank.
5. Have several paper towels hand and know that you will have color and bw ink on your fingers
6. Put the print head on the paper towel
7. Pour rubbing alcohol on the blk and color heads and let them sit of about 10-15 minutes.
8. after that dry the heads and re-insert them in the printer
9. I put new cartridges in the printer and ran clean and deep clean a few times.
10. My color and black and white print came right back!

Hope this helps.

Hi Karen - it might be that you need some time to let the ink absorb into the pads in the print heads - this can take between a few hours and a day according to reports i found on this site, Must be frustrating to deep clean three times and just seem that you are wasting ink cartridges, my "solution" would be to give it time or possibly clean the print heads manually - there are some great tips in the forum posts for this.

Hope you problem sorts itself out soon - take care

hi karen,
If you are sure that the ink is present, there two other possibilities: Purge unit work properly so the ink cannot flow down from ink tank or Logic board of you printer is faulty.

Canon IP90 portable . No ink printing.

Have you performed a nozzle test? If one or more of the colors is missing when you do the nozzle test, the printhead itself is likely in need of replacement.

Before considering replacment, perform a clean on the printer. Due to variations between mac and pc, please see your documentation / support files on how to perform the clean on your printer.

After performing the clean, again perform the nozzle check to see if the problem is resolved.

If still not resolved, remove and re-install any cartridges you recently replaced to make certain they are installed correctly.

Canon iP90 Printer Ink Issue

I have had the same issue with my iP90.  I think this results from the black ink nozzle becoming clogged.  I was able to get mine to print by cleaning the nozzles. To clean the print nozzles open the Canon IJ Printer Utility, select the printer from the list of available printers and click the maintenance button.  Then, select a cleaning or deep cleaning cycle.
