Question about Frigidaire GLEQ642A Electric Dryer
I have a Frigidaire GLEQ642A electric dryer.
Recently when I set the timer on my dryer it only stays on for about 4 minutes and then shuts off. I start it again only to have it stop again.
But when it is on it does dry the clothes. The heat works.
I clean the lint out of the trap before EVERY use and the vent is clear so I know that isn't the problem.
I don't use the dryer a lot. Only for sheets, towels and whites. I don't over fill it.
What could be the problem?
It sounds like to me that the timer may be bad. Does your breaker trip when this happens? If it does, then it is probably not the timer. The motor turning the drum might be going bad. It could be building up resistance then cutting it off on overload(current). Try to bypass the thermal overload switch which is located under the top. This may very well be your problem. Let me know how this does.

Tips for a great answer:
Hello Scott Joseph Brandt - Since you have already replaced the thermal limiter check your breaker or fuses. Some dryers are run by two separate fuses, one for power and one for heat-ours is. If it is not the power source more than likely the issue lies with your heating coil.
