Why will it not connect to the internets IP address?

Try disabling ALL encryption and MAC filtering on the router and see if you can get it to connect that way. This is most frequently a mis-matched encryption or MAC address issue.

It means there is issue of tcp ip address. Limited connectivity means network adapter tcp ip not correct or not getting ip from DHCP server. For that set static ip in network adapter tcp ip property ac your local network range. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

Networks can be a little complicated and very picky.
Much of it depends on how the network is set up. Many will allow you to use DHCP, which means you set the device to accept whatever IP configuration that the network assigns. Some require a set IP address, subnet make, gateway and DNS numbers.

You must know the IP address for the Gateway ( which is usually the main network connection device that connects the network to the internet) and DNS, which is often the same as the gateway, and the subnet ( which will often fill in when you tab from the IP address for the device), in order to manually fill in IP configuration on your laptop.
You need to speak to the person who set up your network so you can see how your device needs to be configured.

Your Router or Modem gives you that IP Address. Reset and Power down everything including your PC. Restart with Modem First...wait 10 sec start Router if you have one... the 10... start PC

dont know the specifics but you shouldnt need to bother with any of that. just connect router to your modem then connect everythign else to the router if using cable. then just set everything to DNHP or dynamic addressing on your router and also on anything you have connected including xbox and pcs. then switch everything off then switch router on, wait a munite then switch everything else on and all the IPs will then l be allocated automaically.

while seeing this ....please flip it over and post the model numbers on the bottom....I can tell you how to get into the router but with out the static ips from your isp wont help much.... to get into it go to INTERNET EXPLORER (not any other) and type in the address bar as follows 192.168.62.1 and hit enter in the user box that pops up put " admin or user " as user name and " admin or password" as password.....that should access the router...you might be able to assign one but im guessin you will need to contact your isp to get the correct numbers....

every computer has an ip adress you might have to go to your internet setting and find some thing that says some thing like... internet adress hook up hopefully you keep files on your computer becuase with out your ip adress you might not be able to hook up its sorta like a combination hope it helpes:)

Your laptop seems to be hooked to your neighbours unsecured network automatically and it is going online with that. About comcast, when you connect a router to the modem or a computer to the modem, the modem has to be rebooted to give a valid IP to the connected device. If the modem is not rebooted the computer or the router will get 192.168.x.x IP address which is called private IP address.

check the fire wall.

Go into your firewall and allow TCPI connections.
And most anything related to your internet connection allow.
If you are running Vista the fire wall has most everything shut down as default settings so you need to change it to allow your IP address access.
Also in Vista you have to allow or not allow sharing in the control panel under networking.
