The main connector to the power supply has to go into the motherboard. Its a rectangle shapped male connector that is on the end of the power supply that plugs into a rectangle female shaped connector on the motherboard. There might also be a shorter square male 4 pin connector at the end of the power supply that should connect into a 4 pin female connector on the motherboard.

After this then you'll want to plug the other connectors into any cd-rom, dvd-rom drives you may have. Same for a floppy drive if you have one. Also make sure your hard drive is hooked up. The connectors that you plug to these devices can only go in one way so no worries about hooking it up improperly. Hope this helps.

After all this, turn on the computer and then after you boot up into windows, make sure you go into my computer and verify that all your drives are being shown in there.

My husband's e-machine T2882 began to make jittery noises the light on the front flashes as does the monitor with a ticking sounds then nothing happens. You can't get it to turn on. We've rebooted shut...

If there's a ticking sound, its probably your hard drive giving out. You have to read what comes on the screen for clues but .....................

You could try booting into safe mode (press the F8 key while booting several times) and completing a system restore. (Start - All programes - Accessories - System Tools - System restore) to a date when it last worked.

If you can't get to the safe mode, then, as its 7 years old, its probably time to treat yourself to a new one.

Usb not recognizing device t2882

Hi,
What I suspect here is that,
Provided the operating system that you are using is Up to Date (e.g WinXP SP2 to Win Vista),

the USB port that you are using might be a USB 1.0 port, which has a lower voltage not enough to power on your Storage drive.

In this case, there are two things you can do,

1. Change the USB port you are using for the storage drive to a USB 2.0 one (Just keep Checking all the ports one by one in case you dont know which one it is).

2. If your Storage drive has external power facility, just plug it in an external power first, before connecting it to the system.

If there are no USB 2.0 Ports on your system at all,

then just go to any electronic store and tell them you want to buy a USB 2.0 Expansion card.

and if it is a laptop, A USB 2.0 PCMCIA card.

Install it on your system, and connect your external drive through it.

Hope this helps you out.

Goodluck

Short but rapid beep code when powering up emachine

The beep code most likely is either video card or memory.
If you have a video card or can borrow one that you know it works try it first, if that doesn't resolve your issue try the memory.
You can take the memory out and have it tested to see if it is defective.
Go to this site and get the Beep Codes, http://www.computerhope.com/beep.htm
I hope this helps.
Good Luck.

My emachine t2882

Try this : See if you can find your motherboard model number. If so, type it into Google, go to the manufacturers site and download a manual which should have the wiring diagram you require.
Cheers.

Need wiring diagram for emachines t2200 motherboard

If you are replacing the power supply and it has 4 pin 12v conector and your motherboard doesn't, just disregard the 4 pin plug. The 20 pin conector will supply sufficient power for the processor. Many of the older motherboards did not have a separate 12v supply for the processor.

Will not boot up at start

this sounds like a mobo issue .... if the machine has been in service for a while or is in a dusty environment a good internal vacume / brushing to remove dust buildup from the mobo might help.... also disconnect and reconnect the main powwer connectors from the mobo... the power button on the case is simply a contact which jumpers the two pins on the mobo... the actual power switching takes place withing the power circuits built into the mobo... you may also try a mobo driver update if it is available
