SONY VAIO PCG-61611l has a very dim screen

Normally, this is in part due to you not replacing it with what should've been an LCD. The reason why it's dim is because those diodes are not getting the required voltage to emit as it should. LCD's work under a different concept where crystals use the light modulating properties of liquid crystals. Liquid crystals do not emit light directly as LED's, because it stand for light emitting diodes.

I am getting memory card error with canon powershot a410

The A410 works with SD cards. Your 8GB card is an SDHC card and won't work in devices not designed to use them. You need to use SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

Camera wont turn on zoom lens is stuck out camera power light comes on flashes for a few second the screen shows a E18 then it shuts itself down

The lens motor or drive has failed. Thats why you are getting the error and the lens won't retact.

This is covered under warrenty if you have any. If not it can cost more than a new camera to get fixed. If you conact canon support or conact your local repair depot they should be able to tell you the cost. Sometimes they will have a flat fixit fee that will cover repair or replacement. Thats cheaper than a new camera but not that much.

My A410 will not turn on. worked great yesterday,

There are two things you can try. First I must tell you that these cameras are extremely vulnerable to moisture. I've had customers who had them in there pocket while jogging and they went faulty. Okay, that having been said let's try the quick fix, Take a Q-Tip and dampen it in rubbing alcohol, do not soak it.Take the Q-Tip and clean the contacts inside the battery compartment taking care not to snag the small ejection spring for the battery. Do the same for the battery and the charging station. This most likley will solve your problem however should it not there's another venue still available. Now you want to take the battery out of the cam and place the battery and the cam in a large Ziplock bag half full with uncooked rice. Real rice, not the 5 minute stuff. Leave it overnight or even two days if your not too exited about the outcome. Remove them from the bag and shake any renegade particles of rice that may have found a home in the battrery compartment etc. If this works all I need now is a smile...Thanks, Dana

I take out door photos during day time,Iam getting white screen.

First make sure the mode selector dial is set to the red camera without an M next to it (ie you're in Auto mode and NOT in manual mode). If so...

A stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open).

To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see the following for further info and a simple fix that may help:

Now the A410 is not capable of taking 15 second exposures as recommended for the fix. Instead try setting the camera to manual mode, turn off the flash, got to a darkened room, and take a picture. Open the battery door while the red and yellow light are flashing. If after many tries this does not work, then consider trying Fix #5a on the site. But do so with the camera turned off and the lens retracted to lessen the chance of damaging the lens mechanism.

I left AA batteries in my Canon powershot A410 too long and now there's battery acid on the battery board. I replaced them with new batteries but the camara is still dead. Did I destroy the camara ?

You may be able to salvage the camera if the only thing the acid did was corrode the battery contacts. Use some light sand paper to clean the battery contacts down to bare metal. The contacts on the battery door should be easy to clean. However, the spring loaded contacts down inside the battery holder may be hard to reach. You can try using an eraser on the end of a pen or pencil to reach down in and buff the tops of the springs. I recommend using a pen eraser because they tend to be more abrasive. After you've cleaned teh contacts the best you can try putting in new batteries and hope for the best.

I have canon a410 digital camera. when I look at my view screen I only 1/4 of the screen. how do I correct this screen to full screen?

sometimes the exterior shutter can get stuck when you turn the camera on. this may be blocking what the camera sees, and hence "blocking" your view screen.

Camera wont turn on

I just posted that I have this problem as well. Then, after browsing further at Canon's site, I found a possible link between the memory card and the power problem. Sure enough, I popped the memory card out and reinserted it and the camera powered right up. I hope this helps others. . . .
