Question about Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
When I plug something in, be it an MMC, SD, SDHC, my MP3 player or a USB flash-memory drive, I can't safely remove it. I click the icon and windows (XP) comes up with "This device 'Generic volume' cannot be stopped right now. Try stopping the device again later."
I have uninstalled the USB controllers and card readers on disk drives in Device Manager, rebooted, and tried again.
A friend told me to try going into the policies tab and setting the drives to Optimize for Quick Removal.
That hasn't worked either. I have to turn off my PC before I can take any media from the drives. Not a huge deal, but can be pretty annoying when trying to upload pictures.
I can't say exactly how long it's been doing this, but it's been well over 6 months, and I can't find anything else on Google to help fix this problem.
GO INTO CONTOL PANEL UNDER INSTALLING NEW HARDWARE OR INSTALL NEW DEVICES
IT SOUNDS LIKE IRQ OR COM PORT ISSUE
