Question about Nintendo Wii Console

Disc read issue

I cna do anything on my wii that doesnt require a disc, i can use all my channels, and connect for the internet and everything.

When i insert a disc, it reads the disc and says it is in the drive, when i hit start, the unit resets back to the wii menu. this happens with every disc i own.

I got wii for christmas, and it worked for about 2 weeks before it began to do this, i had a product replacement plan, so i got a brand new wii, and now this one is doing the exact same thing.

is there perhaps something i am doing? or something i could do to avoid this?

If Wii gives Disc Read Error, first step you need to check is to try another disc or clean the exisitng disc. This will confirm that problem is with either Wii or Disc. If the console itself is giving disc read error then it needs to be repaired. You may check out DIY Wii Fix Guide, that will show step by step information to fix The problem yourself. It also gives information on fixing many Wii Related Problems, so its a kind of Wii Problems Reference Fix Guide

Icant get my wii to read the netflix disc

Your wii has to be modded to read dvd discs. However you can rent netflix over the internet with your wii where no disc is required.
So you have 2 options. 1. Turn your wii into a dvd player by having it modded at www.wiihdmods.com
2. Get netflix on your wii and download the movies directly to the wii.

Wii unable to recognize the disc in Disc channel

This drive should fix any reading issues you are having with your games, or issues inserting your games or ejecting them (or lack thereof). This is the entire DVD drive assembly mechanism replacement for your Wii including a new laser. If your discs are not ejecting, or you cannot insert a disc -- or you can insert a disc but it will not load, this is what you need to get your Wii going again!

Since Christmas we have had trouble with the wii not reading most disks we try to put in. It seems to have started when we tried to update it, use it via internet? May have erased channels? The photo...

The first step is to check the disc. If you are sure this is not a problem with the game disc, then this is usually a problem with either the laser inside of the Wii's drive, or some other issue going on inside of the DVD drive. The following website sells the DVD drive mechanisms and does repairs on the Wii as well:

if by doesnt begin you do you mean doesnt read disc or fails to start game because if its doesnt read disc look for scratches on the disc if its doesnt initialize then it could be the disc drive itself is bad then go to http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wii/en_na/index.jsp

Game needs an update but when i try to update, it fails

It may be possible you bought a chipped Wii without knowing it. In this case, modchips have been known to cause problems when updating. Usually the drive will be able to read a disc from another region, but it will cause problems on an update. Otherwise, make sure your disc isn't damaged causing a bad read. If an error code is given upon failure to install, check that error code with Nintendo's website.

Reads disc but won't play

this is an interesting problem, if its actually reading the games then the channel icon changes to the game's logo doesnt it, but you cant launch games, you tried restting the console obviously, thats about he only thing i could think to try personaly for this issue, i would advise calling nintendo's 1800 number, suprisingly they are actuallyvery helpfull and will normaly solve your issue, they replaced my power supply for free, and i wasnt on the phone very long either, try it and see what they say, it may be something they can walk you through fixxing on the phone, but i imagine it may mean replacing or repairing your console through nintendo. sorry I could provide any more info.
