Stopping the Cancel/Drain Cycle

My kitchen sink recently clogged and therefore my dishwasher filled water. I have drained the dishwasher sufficiently, but can't seem to end the drain cycle and actually RUN the dishwasher. Does anyone know how to end the drain cycle?

Same problem. Sink water filled dishwasher. I hit drain cycl and now my dishwasher is "stuck". It sounds like it is just continuing to drain. The numbers on the panel dont change (it's a countdown). I unplugged it for 5 min. didnt work.

Disconnect the Drain Hose from the plumbing under the sink and using a bucket hold the hose in the bucket and attempt to drain the dishwasher. If you have a disposal and recently replaced it, the knockout plug may be still inside where the drain hose attaches into the disposal. To determine if it is still there, using a screwdriver, stick the screwdriver into the drain hose hole on the side of the disposer and if you feel blockage then the knockout plug is still in the disposer and will need to come out. To remove the plug use a short screwdriver and a hammer and place the screwdriver into the drain and strike the top of the screwdriver once and the plug should pop out of the disposal. Be careful not to hit the disposal too hard or to damage any plumbing. Reattach the drain hose and you should be all set. When you remove the drain hose if the machine is flashing an error code, go to the circuit breaker box and turn off the breaker for the dishwasher, wait 5 mins and turn it back on. This should reset the board and the machine should operate properly.

Dishwasher Whirlpool quiet partner 2 will not drain

Check your drainage hose going to the kitchen sink. It should be routed up to an air gap on kitchen sink, or ran to the highest point as possible under the kitchen sink counter and then slope down into the disposer or branch wye tailpiece on your drainage piping depending on what your drainage configuration is. Not going up to the highest point, or an air gap, before draining into your drainage piping allows the water inside the dishwasher hose to drain back into the unit.

Frigidaire FDP635RFR3 wont drain.

Theres a drain pump located at the bottom of the unit if you follow the hose from the pump then to the drain if your unit isnt draining you might have to call for service from a technician to have them change your drain pump. If the water is just sitting inside the unit and when u start the unit it should fill with water again. Also if you have a cancel function by pressing this you will make the unit drain if you dont hear anything when u press the cancel button you definetly need a pump

The water is not draining completely

Hello dmcgillvray1,

You aren't giving me much information to go on but I will point out some basic checks for you to do... First off, make sure you clean the filter screen where the water drains out of the dishwasher pan ( should be at some low point and needs to be free of any food byproducts that may restrict drainage... That said, if your dishwasher drains int a garbage disposal into your kitchen sink, make sure that it is clean of any garbage... (cycle it with water running to ensure there aren't any obstructions)... Those are the main culprets but you could have other issues... the pump itself is clogged, the lines feeding or exitting the pump are clooged or restricing flow... your house drain may be restrictive and limiting flow... Check the drain line that runs from the dishwasher to the drain itself to make sure it is not pinched off or clogged. I have used this technique a few times to verify the flow .... I have unhooked the dishwasher drain from the house drain ( normally under the sink and just by loosening a hose clamp... then using a large pail... started cycling the dishwasher ... when the dishwasher starts the drain cycle.. look for a very good flow of water.. if it is flowing good, then the problem is not the dishwasher and may be related to the house drain... Be careful not to over fill the bucket and it should fill up fairly quickly.. alternatively, you may be able to use a flashlight and look into the sink drain while the system is draining to look at flow... f it seems weak.. then you may have any one of the other problems mentioned previously.. Hope that helps...

Cycle finishes but water is not draining

Sounds like too much water leftover.

Give me a make and model number of the dishwasher.

Check that the drain hose isn't kinked, and that where the drain connects at the garbage disposal at the sink isn't partially clogged. And, is the garbage disposal clean/clear of food stuff's.
I had a similar thing happen to me a few weeks ago, and it turned out the kitchen sink drain line was clogged.

ASKO 1385 not filling after overfill protection was turned on

If when turned on the dishwasher sounds like it is running the drain pump, and does this in any cycle setting, it is possible that the drain pan below the unit has filled with water. Check this post for more details.

Water slowly filling cabinet when dishwasher is off.

either
leaking valve - to check, turn water off and see if it still happens
or
if appliance is plumbed in to a spigot on the sink trap, then when you empty sink, some of the water finds its way into the dishwasher via the drain hose. to cure, take the drain hose as high as possible under the sink in a swan neck

SA 660 SMEG dishwasher constantly filling....

this can be water draining from your sink into the dishwasher via the drain pipe, assuming the drain pipe goes to a spigot on the sink trap.
take the drain hose up as high as possible in a swan neck to prevent this.
