2004 Kawasaki Prairie 700 wont start

The machine gets lots of fuel, spark, and the battery is good but wont start cold, yet a couple of tugs on the cord , and away ya go, then it wont idle until its warm even with the idle turned all the way up. I put new coils on it, new igniter box and new plugs. Timing maybe?

I have a 2004 Kawasaki KFX 700 has no spark I changed the ignition switch, coils, CDI and rectifier and still nothing.

Hi, Adrian and the usual suspects are:
1. Fouled spark plugs.
2. Severely discharged or a damaged battery, should have 12.5 volts or better and be able to pass a load test if necessary.
3. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
4. Loose connection at ignition coil or plug between ignition sensor and module.
5. Spark plug cables in bad condition, shorting / leaking, spark plug cable connections loose.
6. Faulty ignition coil or ignition / electronic module
7. Faulty CKP, CMP, or BAS sensor.
8. Faulty ignition switch.
9. Tilt sensor needs a reset.
10. Security alarm failing to disarm needs reset

I have a 1997 Kawasaki Prairie 400 4 by 4. It has sat for a while and I would go start it and stuff but after it sat for awhile I rode it and it rode fine. Now It bogs when I push the throttle. Help

Hi, Bridger if your bike has been sitting idle for months or years and you did not do any pre-storage maintenance I feel your pain it will probably have a dead battery and not want to start or if it starts it will idle and run poorly, here are the following steps necessary to complete in order to get your bike back to an acceptable running condition.
1. If your battery was 3 years or older when you last had the bike running you should replace it.
2. If you believe your battery might still be serviceable remove it from the bike and put it on a 1 or 2 amp trickle charger for 24 hours. If it is the old lead acid type with visible cells and acid levels fill each cell to the top line with distilled water and replace the caps, run the vent tube into a plastic or styrofoam cup, any cells that are cloudy/milky replace the battery.
3. After charging remove the leads and let the battery sit for a couple of hours then check the battery voltage with a volt meter, you should have 12.5 volts or better, any readings in the 11 volt range you need to do a proper load test on the battery and replace as necessary, any readings in the 10 volt range you have a dead cell and replace the battery.
4. Drain and flush fuel tank, google " how to clean a motorcycle gas tank" find a couple forums to view the different options available.
5. Remove your air cleaner and clean and re-oil per Mfg. specifications.
6. Remove the carburetor, disassemble and decontaminate with a carb dip or if you have EFI remove injectors and clean with carb spray and compressed air
7. Remove fuel valve and filter disassemble and clean as necessary, remove fuel lines and replace with new ones.
8. Replace spark plug with a new one and check for spark.

I have a 04 prairie 700 that loads up and back fires through the carbs at mid to full throdle. Starts and idles great. just replaced plugs and fuel after being stored for 3 months. I cleaned the jets and...

what did you use to clean the jets? if you stuck something inside them, you could have reamed it out a little to a larger size. you can try leaning out your mixture screw a little and see if that works. if not, you might have to replace your main jets.

Bike wont start

I have had batterys that will put out enough amps to spin the starter, but will do this with a voltage to low for the electronic ignition to fire the spark plugs. Can you push start the bike? If he bike has been sitting for a while it helps to drain the carb bowls to get some fresh fuel from the tank into them. Sorry this is a couple of quick fix options, you may need to post the question again if this doesnt help
