DMC-FX01 Flash Does Not Work

Hi, Everytime I try to take a photo using the flash the icon for this will flash red and wont take a picture, if I turn the flash off it will then take the picture. Is there a way to reset the camera or a firmware update as I believe this could be a software problem. Also if I goto the menu after about 5 secs it asks me to turn the camera on and off again. Any help in fixing this will be greatly appriciated

Thanks you for your help but unfortunatley it is in everymode that the flash wont work. Before this problem the flash icon was white now it is always red no matter what flash option is selected. The only way I can take a photo is when the flash is off.

AfterI recharged my battery, the flash no longer works. The symbols flash red and then a message 'Please turn camera off and then on again' appears. Nothing happens when I turn the camera off, the problem is still there

In what mode are you trying to take photos? The flash will not work in certain modes (see the manual), for example the night mode. Or you accidentialy turned on sequential/burst mode (this is mode where camera takes more pictures on one shutter button press). Flash cannot be used in this mode also. I don't have FX01, but on FZ8 the camera will show flash icon in red, but will take the picture anyway without flash being triggered. The second problems seems like enabled power-saving mode, but those 5 seconds are too short for this. But anyway you can check in SETUP menu the settings for power-save. Also maybe the flash is broken and camera noticed it... I don't think this could be a software problem. Either problem with the flash, but more probably just setting of wrong mode.

I have a Panasonic DMC-TZ4 camera. I am on vacation and my settings got changed. I do not have the manuel with me. My flash won't work for indoor pictures and I do not know how to change the settings. Help

One of the buttons on the back has a lightning bolt icon. In picture taking mode, press the button and watch the screen....it will cycle through auto flash, red-eye flash, flash off, etc.

When I try to take a photo in portrait mode with the flash on auto or forced on the icon flashes red and the camera wont take photos. After about twenty seconds it comes up saying turn the camera off and...

dear sir,

the first suspect is your battery, which is running in low battery....kindly recharge the battery for few hours and then put your camera on........

next, the problem is usually caused by virus and sometimes it might be software failure also, which causes some of the menu not to function, the only solution is to flash ur cam software from the nearest samsung service centre

thank you.....take care................

How do you turn the flash off so I can take pictures where a flash cannot be used?

Press Right on the cursor button (marked with the lightning bolt icon) to switch the flash setting. Your choices are AUTO, AUTO/Red-eye reduction, Forced ON, Forced ON/Red-eye reduction, Slow sync/Red-eye reduction, and Forced OFF.

I have loved this camera but everytime I take a flash picture it causes the subjects to close their eyes. I've never had this problem with other cameras. Is the flash not timed properly or is it too...

Are you using the red-eye setting? An initial flash causes the pupils of your subjects to contract, followed by a second full flash 1 second later.

The trouble is that the first flash is bright, and subjects think its all over so they blink, rub their eyes, look away, and even the photographer may be pointing the camera elesewhere by then.

It is better not to use that setting, and fix the red eye afterwards.
With the flash open, hit the right button until the eye icon goes away.

Flash won't work.it's red on the display and won't take photos.

Your camera has a bad flash unit. If the flash goes bad the camera can not take a picture because the flash will not trigger off.
