Question about Canon DR-5060F Pass-Through Scanner

1 Answer

Lines all over second page

When I use the duplex, the second page has lines all over it. I can see that the scanner glass is dirty under the side you can not get into. I cleaned off the top and that is fine, but how can we get the glass off to clean the inside of the glass? Who can we take it to that can clean this?

It is possible to clean the inner side of the glass. First you need to remove the scan module by removing two screws on each side, then remove the cable. Carefully take out the module. You will notice 4 small screws in the side, after removing which you can detach the LED module. Remove the vertical screws and this will detach the Lens Module. Now you will have access to the inner side of the glass. Ensure that the electronics, the Lens module and the LED are carefully placed back and cable connected properly. There is a small spring plate screwed along with the LED module, which needs to be placed properly. Please do not use any sharp instrument.

Hi,

Are the scan settings correctly specified for the scanning application software used? Check if interface cable are correctly connected. When the error occurs on ADF front, clean the glass inside of Base Unit. When the error occurs on ADF back, clean the glass of the Upper Unit.Check if any dirt get on the white reference sheet?

Also, check the mirror of the OPT Unit dirty, clean the mirrors.
Check the connector and check any cables are damaged,if so, then replace the damaged cables.

If the above doesn't help, then the issue may be due Optical unit or Control PCA problem. hence, you may have to seek the help of Fujitsu scanner technicians for rectification.

Hope the above information is helpful.

Thanks & regards,

I have a canon doc scanner dr3080c When scanning on duplex ,the second page always has 2 parallel lines down it . I have looked to see if there is any dirt on the glass but there isnt What could it be

The dirt may not be visible, pls use Isopropyl Alcohol to clean the Glass surface. Don't use any solvents. For absolute emergencies, you can take aftershave/cologne on a cotton swab and clean the glass, ensure that plastic parts are not touched!

My scanned image has many thin coloured lines ruinning through it. It is not a dirty glass issue as the help page suggests

The mirrors in the optical system under the glass may be dirty or the lens near the CCD (charge coupled device) may also be dirty. This can happen over time. Dust gets in there and can cause this.

My scanner is now adding a page with a black line that runs from top to bottom of the page and the actual document scanned is page 2. But the document is fine with no line through it. Does this mean that...

Check your scanner software settings. It is probably set at duplex ever time you start to scan. That is why you get two pages for every pass, the front and the back. You must place the document in the feeder in a way that the front side of the document is page 2. You may want to flip it next time you scan. So the main question is why there is black line from top to bottom? That is because there is a piece of dirt stuck on the glass of the scanner. You see, this scanner actually does two scanning when a page runs through it: the front and the back in duplex mode. So there are two scanners in side the box. The front page scanner apparently is dirty and needs to be cleaned with clean cloth and lens cleaner.

Check your brightness setting for backside. Ideally keep it automatic, else you can manually choose the right brightness.

Getting vertical lines on scanned pages when duplex scanning on canon dr-3080c II scanner Only on duplex side of pages, though. Front page still shows up clean.

It is dust on the glass, clean it thoroughly. You will find it at the same location for all drawings and may get faded for lower brightness!

A one inch line from top to bottom of page only on page 2

Its good you narrowed it down to 2nd side duplex. It has to be dirt on the glass of the scanner. Its possible that dust has gotten into the ccd or camera area. Take a flash light and see if you can see anything stuck which is black on the glass or if it has a scratch on the glass.

Try running a calibration. This is done thorugh ScanGear in Advanced mode. Once in Advanced Mode, in the Image Settings section there should be an option for Calibration (you may have to scroll down in this section to see it). After running the calibration, try performing a preview scan with nothing on the scanner glass. If the red line shows up on the preview now, then most likely the scanner needs to be serviced.

Duplex Scanning

If the line appears in the same location, it is definitely dust sticking to the glass. How thick is it? If it is thick, it may be because of an LED failed to glow, but this is etremely rare. If you are getting line in Duplex mode and not in simplex mode, it is on the second scanning module! Try cleaning with Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA). If you have been scanning old documents which tend to break like biscuit or get powdery, a speck can enter into the scanning area and create trouble.
