Streaks on photo sensitive drum HP laserjet 5MP

I Have a HP Lasejet 5MP with many years of trusty printing. Of late grey and black streaks are appearing down the printed page. I replaced the toner cartridge with a new one and cleaned the printer. But after a couple of pages the streaks reoccur. I looked at the photo sensitive drum and found what looks like toner streaks on the drum. I cleaned this carefully with a linen cloth. It prints fine for a couple of pages and then the streaks reappear with the drum again stained,,,,Any ideas please?

Does not sound like a driver problem. It's a cartridge problem.

If you can do a "engine test" page, that will rule out ALL software and computer problems.

On a LJ4 Plus, the test button is inside the single sheet feeder area.

I don't know offhand where it is on a 5MP.

Barring that, simply run a test page from the printer menu. That a also eliminates all driver and computer effects. Toner on the drum is definately a mechanical/electrical issue and likely the transfer roller. Either it's bad, or the electrical connection to the printer needs cleaning.

Normal 0 Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

My HP Color LaserJet 8550 is printing very distinct streaks. It seems to be in areas that have a lot of magenta. Any idea how to get rid of the streaks??

If the streaks are limited to a single colour, the problem is likely to be THAT colour TONER CARTRIDGE.

A problem with the DRUM UNIT (only a single drum in this printer) or the TRASNSFER DRUM , or BELT (this printer has both a transfer drum and a belt), would affect ALL colours.

My hp laserjet 3030 printer has begun printing with grey horizontal streaks over the entire page. Can anyone help with the problem?

Sounds like a bad fuser. To check it out - print a few pages, as the printer prints open the cover(the one that you open to get at the toner).Remove the toner. Look at the page that is facing up. if it has streaks on it - change the toner. If it looks clean, change the fuser.

Printer has set for a while. The print quality is very poor. Black is grey, there are streaks across the page.

Take the cartridge out and shack it side to side a few times to move the toner around and reinstall it.

Dell lj 5100 shadow print and black streaks

The mfr. & model don't seem right; Dell does have a 5100 but the LJ designation is copyrighted by HP who has a LaserJet 5100.
The rotating drum that transfers the image to paper is smaller in circumference than the paper is long; this accounts for the shadow and the streaks come from the drum no longer being properly discharged and cleaned for the next pass.
I think you need a new drum cartridge and whether Dell or HP made it, you should be able to buy a drum cartridge here:
Precision Roller
I used them for years while in business and they are great to work with.

I just picked up a 4500n hp laserjet, and it was very dusty inside and out. So I cleaned it inside and out very thourougly. I plugged it in and print the configuration page, the plc, ps fonts, demo page 1...

Most likely the drum is failing. After printing pages remove the drum and see if it has streak on it to be sure (don't bother trying to clean it - if it has streaks the cleaning mechanism has failed)

2 IN. GRAY AREA DOWN SIDE PAPER

There are several things that can cause this. A worn toner cartridge and/or transfer roller can cause vertical smears, but it may also be a worn fuser assembly. The teflon coating on the fixing (heat) roller wears off, and leaves vertical streaks of varying widths on the pages. Sometimes you may see "ghost" images on the pages for the same reason. Open the back door of the printer, and hold down the exit guide on the fuser (carefull, it may be very hot). There are two long rollers, the lower one is black, the upper roller is either grey or shiny brown. That's the teflon coating. See if it's peeled or damaged. If so, replace the fuser assembly.
