In this case what i would request u to do is....... Take out both the catridges from the Printer......... Take 2 Paper Towels one should be wet with Luke warm water and the other one should be  dry...........
Take the Colour catridge first turn it upside down and u will see a small copper plate on the  catridge from where the ink comes out.......
Place the wet paper towel using ur thumb on the Copper plate and press it a lit bit for 10  Seconds......
Now remove it and see whether u see any ink on the paper towel.......... U should see some ink on it now place the dry paper towel on the ink catridge in the same  way........
Now do the same procedure again.......... Do the same procedure twice on the Black Catridge................. Now take the dry paper towel and turn the direction of the cartridge so that u can see a  Copper plate on it with small boxes just clean that copper plate with the Dry Paper
Towel..........
Know insert both the catridges inside the Printer... Good Luck

Unplug the printer from power for ten minutes.

Remove cartridges and put them back, open all doors and close them back.

You do know that you can use 4 x 6 photo paper in the paper feed? or else you have to tuck it into that little try under the printing outlet and be sure to click the change of feed button on the upper right of the console.

IP1000 cannot print black ink

This is what worked (so far) with my Dell1.gif AIO A940 printer1.gif that wouldn't print black ink.

It worked for awhile when I chose photo/glossy paper, but then it quit printing again (see below).

PRINT, PROPERTIES, PAPER SETUP, SPECIALTY PAPER, PHOTO/GLOSSY

I got it to print, again, by putting SEVERAL papers in the feeder (instead of just 1) - there is a sensor that is supposed to automatically detect paper type, and it might not be working right, especially with one or only a couple of sheets.

Horrible print quality

hi i am a certified Canon repair tech for this printer. the first problem is the paper you are using hp photo paper is specialty formulated to be used with there inks. every manufacture is the same if you want the proper looking photo and you are using a Canon printer you need to use Canon photo paper because the paper is formulated for their inks. hope this helps to clarify.
