Question about DCS 48 in. CS-484GG Gas Cooktop

If the temp is set between high & low, all burners "click"

If I try to set the temp between high and low, the burner clicks.  The clicking is coming from all the burners despite the fact that only one burner is being used.  When I look at the other burners, it looks like they are trying to ignite.
I have a 48" DCS cooktop with 4 burners, a grill and a griddle.  It is about 9 years old

I am not concerned about safety as it has been doing this for years - I am just now fed up and trying to figure out why, on such an expensive piece of equipment, I cannot cook on Medium.

The clicking sound are the ignitors that keep coming on, that means that there is a short on the wiring harness to the ignitors.

Replace the wiring.

Remove all the burner caps and wash in warm soapy water, scrubbing with a plastic scrubber.

Do the same for each of the burner bases, including the knub where the arc ignitor rests.

Replace the burner caps, making sure they are properly aligned in the burner bases.

Over time, these items will accumulate a non visible coating, a residual of cleaners and food spills. Cleaning will allow the ignitor sensor system to determine that a flame is present.

Does it lite at all? Most gas ranges will turn on all the ignitors when you try to lite the top. I would say you have moisture on the ignitors. try cleaning them a bit with dry cloth.

It is normal for all burners to spark , but the only one that will lit is the one that you open, then turn knob until the spark stops!

That is normal,it is due to the use of 1 power coil for the whole system, rather than having 1 for each burner.(The coil sends power to all ignitors at the same time, but only the burner calling for gas will ignite)

Why do Jenn-Air cooktop igniters click when the exhaust fan is on med-high and the burners are on low flame setting ? ?

Igniters sense flame temperature, and if the fan cools the temp sensor down, your cooktop thinks the flame has gone out, so it clicks to reignite it.

Gas burner won't light unless gas is turned down to the low position.

I've had this happen before, first make sure that the black burner cap is clean underneath and it's making good contact with the aluminium burner, also make sure the igniter is sparking across to the burner, check the ceramic coating around the igniter isn't cracked or the wires shorting out . Good luck.

Burners ignite simultaneously (clicking)

When you set a burner to light, all burners spark. This is normal. Move knob back off the spark position as soon as burner lights. All sparking will stop.

Wolf range cooktop

I just installed a Wolf gas cooktop and had the same problem in that all 4 burners would light just fine but the electronic igniters would not stop clicking on all four. What I found was that the electrical outlet that my gas cooktop was plugged into had the polarity reversed. I tested the outlet with a polarity testing module (you can get one at Home Depot and it checks polarity, grounding, GFI and is handy to have around, small and inexpensive). I plugged it in and the lights told me that the polarity was reversed. I reversed the wires in the outlet (exchanged the white and black wires) put the cover back on, plugged in the cook top and now it works like a champ! no more constant clicking. By the way, we had a cooktop before this one with electronic ignition and never had a problem, apparently it didn't care about the polarity.

Clicking noise on cooktop even when all burners ignite

I have a viking gas cooktop. The ignitor on one of my front burners wouldn't stop clicking even after the flame ignited. I swapped that ignitor with the ignitor from a back burner, expecting that the problem was with the ignitor and that the back burner would start to click incessantly, but at least I'd have my favorite front burner for use. Instead, the front burner was then only clicking 50% of the time and the back burner was fine, suggesting the problem was related to the burner not the ignitor. I pulled the front ignitor a bit away from the burner and now it is working normally. Hope this helps.

High performance burner slow to light

Replace that ignitor on that burner only. Not drawing enough amps to spark properly.
