Re: tv stuck on ''sale'' screen
Normaly you WILL have to obtain the remote to get the tv out of sales mode.
A few tricks that you can try.
1. Hold down the menu button as you power on the tv.
2. Hold down the channel up and down (at the same time) as you power on the tv.
3. Hold down the volume up and down (at the same time) as you power on the tv.
Sometimes you have to hold the buttons down for up to 10 seconds after the television is powered on.
Lastly you can try unplugging the television for an extended period of time and see if the television will reset itself.
If you have no luck with these tricks then you are going to have to post some information reguarding the manufacture, model # of the set so someone can look up the information for you.
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Hi there, this is Cheri Torres with DISH Network customerservice. I came across your post recently and wanted to see if I couldhelp you get this issue resolved. If your remote is controlling the receiver byitself, continuously scrolling through the channels and volume on its own, sounds like you have an issue with interference. The interference couldpossibly be by another person in your area having the same remote address asyou or you might just need to change your remote address to eliminate any otherinterference you might be experiencing. I would like to give you instructionson changing the remote address on your TV to stop this issue from happening. Ihope you find these steps useful in fixing your issue. If you have any furtherquestions or concerns feel free to post back here or email me atCheri.Torres@Dishnetwork.com. :)
Go to System Info screen. In order to get into system info you will have to press the system info button on the front of the DISH receiver box. If your receiver does not have this button you can also press the power button once and then the up arrow button once on the front of the DISH receiver. The last option you can try if all else fails, would be to open the smart card door on the front left side of the receiver and pull out the smart card.
Once your in the system info screen you will want to find the remote address. For TV1 you will see primary remote address and for TV2 you will see secondary remote address. You are going to want to change the number that is listed in the small white box.
Hold down the SAT button until all mode lights light up.
Enter a number between 1 and 15 using the numeric keypad on the remote.
Press the pound (#) button
Once the SAT button blinks three times, press record. Note: If successful the number selected in step 3 will appear in the System Info screen under Remote Address.
Be sure your remote hasn't got a button stuck down which is changing channels. If not, take the batteries out of the remote. If this stops the channel changing there is probably some conductve material stuck across the circuit board
inside the remote. If this is the case you have to check inside the remote by openning it up.
First press the SAT button at the top left hand side of the remote and release. Now try changing channels. If this did not work press the menu button twice on the receiver. It will usually be behind a pop open door on the right of the receiver. I f your receiver does not have these buttons you can access the system info screen by pressing the power button on the receiver while holding down the arrow left or right key.
Once you have come to the SYSTEM INFO SCREEN press and hold the SAT button on the top left side of the remote until all lights across the top light up. Then key in a two digit number e.g. 01-16 and press the #key. then press the record button and the remote address for the location you are trying to control should change to the number you keyed in. If this is the second location tv that was giving you issues exit out of all the screens on the receiver location tv and go to the other location and try the remote. If it is the tv where the receiver is located then you should now be able to use the remote to maneuver the yellow cursor across the screen. If you need furtherassistance please let me know. Thanks for using Fix Ya.
the problem is with the control panel of your tv...make sure your remote doesnt have any part in this...just remove and the batteries and check if the channels still are changing.....see if the onboard switch for channel changing is stuck ?..if stuck u can use homemade tools to pull it back......if your tv is within your gurantee period...just giv a call to customer care....if not u can take it to a local repair shop...there is nothin that u can urself do to make it right ...sorry....for further info contact at
The simpliest solution is always the best - I called the cable service provider; they reported an outage and quickly remedied the situation - but also tried to sell me their digital TV package. Thanks for your response.
It sounds like a stuck button or switch. What happens when you hit the channel DOWN, does it still keep scrolling down?
Is this with or without the remote?
Have you tried it with the remote and or the TV?
Let me know whether you are changing the channels with the remote or the buttons on the tv and I can try to give you a couple more suggestions. Mac =)
