I have just bought a ZEN mp3 player and can't get it to play through my car stereo via the USB port. So it looks like I have the same problem. So it seems like I need to now buy a memory stick or an IPOD to play my music ? The car is a KIA Cerato 2009. Is this correct ?

You can only plug this type of mp3 player through the headphone jack to your aux in jack on the front. the usb port is for memory sticks and cards your unit will automatically play the tracks off of one of these

i had the same problem and i found out that the european jvc was different to the aisian version so you will need to find out which version you have but my sansa works with mine now but i had to spend 115 dollars for the right adapter and then my sana got stolen and i bought an ipod which interfaces with the unit just fine

Ipod not working on a JVC KD331 cd/radio car player

Check your stereo for a button that says "Aux" or a "Function" button. It could also say something else depending on the radio. The one in my 93' Mustang says "Band" and in my truck it simply says "iPod" Just mess around a little bit and see what you find.

Playing MP3 Via AUX comes out crackly

Try turning the volume lowwer on the mp3 player and higher on the head unit. The radio is trying to amplify an amplified sound which is why you are getting distortion.

Play Ipod thru JVC CD car stereo using RCA cable?

JVC KD-S731R does not have the option of connecting an ipod. The RCA ports on the rear of the unit are a Line-Out. These RCA's only OUTPUT sound. Not an INPUT RCA that you require. The only other method of using an ipod with this stereo is to purchase an FM-Modulator to connect the ipod. Once purchased, you must connect the antenna wire coming from the vehicle to the module, then you must connect the antenna wire coming from the module to the stereo. The other wire will be connected to either a jack or a ipod specific plug depending on the type of modulator used.

Connecting an MP3 player to car radio

The most common way is to use the auxiliary input of the deck or head unit. However I don't believe the JVC model you have has one of these. Don't despair though. Head to your local department store with a music department and pick up a universal FM modulator ($20-$30).

These will 'pretend' to be an FM radio station inside your vehicle. Attach the stereo mini plug to your walkman or other audio device (mp3 player etc.) Then tune the FM Radio to the fm station listed on the FM modulator and you will be able to listen to the device through your car stereo speakers. Now this isn't as clean as a direct hookup but for most its an economical way to listen to alternate sources on your Car Stereo.
