Question about Yahoo Mail

1 Answer

All the messages I send end up in peoples junk folders

Hello!

my band has a domain info@momeraths.co.uk and we send messages to multiple yahoo addresses at once who have joined our mailing list. Recently we have discovered that all the messages we send end up in the recipients junk folders. We were wondering if there is any fee we can pay or way that we can stop this problem from happening as it means people do not recieve our messages.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Much love

the momeraths

This issue is an issue with Yahoo! email spam settings and not necessarily your domain email.

To resolve this issue, your recipients using Yahoo! email addresses need to change their spam settings, by going to the Spam folder and clicking [ Edit Settings ] in the gray box. In these options and settings, the recipients can modify what is considered spam and what is not considered spam.

Also, it is advised that the recipients check their Spam folders frequently, since your emails may still end up in that folder. If there is new mail in the Spam folder, there will be a number next to the folder name (In this case, Spam) and it will be in bold face text.

Unsubcribe , not found on web page ...also getting 150 to 200 spams a day , what to do

If you have a free email account (gmail, juno, yahoo, etc.) just get a new address. Juno will send you email on behalf of their advertisers and these do not contain unsub options. And they won't stop, so just cancel your account and go to gmail where they have no unsolicited spam advertizing. Alternatively, you could do what I had to do on my business account and track down the owners of the domains sending the spam emails as well as the company hosting their services. I politely requested an end to the emails and when I got the next one I forwarded it to their own email accounts. It is not too difficult to track down the info needed, just do a WHOIS search on the domain name, i.e., go to www.whois.net and enter the domain (such as fixya.com) and you will be presented with the registrant's info. In some cases...such as the example here, you will be directed to another domain registrar (GoDaddy) and search there. In this example you will locate an email address for the domain administrator (shilon@fixya.com). A firm and well-worded request followed by an inbox of their own junk did wonders. I now receive NO more spam. Good luck.

Yahoo wont accept the address as being properly formated on the email message I want to send even the company I tried to send it to gave that email address in different places.yahoo says that it isn't...

A properly formatted email address has to be like this -
name@domain.com
Now it doesn't necessarily have to be a .com addresses. Could be .net or .org, just as long as it's a valid domain suffix.

Some email messages people are sending to my correct address are not reaching me. Where are they going?

People send messages from their computer to their ISP's mail-server -- compare to dropping an addressed letter into a US Postal Service mailbox.
Then, the ISP's mail-server tries to send the message to your ISP's mail-server -- compare to the US Postal Service transporting a bag of messages from the "source" city to the "target" city.
Hopefully, your ISP's mail-server is "accepting" messages from the other ISP. This can take a while -- imagine the volume of E-mail from HOTMAIL customers to YAHOO customers!

Then, your computer tries to "pull" the message from your ISP's mail-server onto your computer. Hopefully, this works.

Finally, your E-mail program may be doing "spam-filtering", and may put the incoming message into the 'Junk Mail' folder.
Have you looked in that folder?

So, there's lots of "opportunity" for messages to be "stuck" someplace. Without explicit details, and log-files from the sender's mail-server and your ISP's mail-server, it's impossible to be more precise.

I am not getting all of my e-mails. Can you fix that? Are you affiliated with yahoo?

The first thing to check is to see if they are being delivered to your spam/junk mail folder. You may also have configured your account to immediately delete spam/junk, which would prevent you seeing if the emils were landing there. Check your security settings and if it is set to delete immediately, change it. Then, have someone send you a test email and see if it lands in your junk folder. If it does, you can loosen up the security settings you have so Yahoo doesn't screen so strictly.

Also check to make sure you haven't reached your Yahoo email capacity amount. If you have too many emails in your account, Yahoo will reject them, but they usually send the sender an email saying so.

That being said, I had used Yahoo sometime ago as it was affiliated with my SBC interent provider. I had similar issues where my email wouldn't come in or showed up a day or two later. I always advise friends not to use Yahoo as their email account for important emails. You might consider opening a gmail account at Google. Their system is much more reliable. Or you can setup your own domain and a email account attached to it at a registrar such as GoDaddy very reasonably. Domains are less than $10 a year and email is about $3 a month. It will be a lot more reliable too!
