you could try the FN+F7 this should enable/disable the touchpad
or go to
right click the computer properties
go up to top left and click on device manager
scroll down to find mouse and pointing devices
un install it and restart laptop
hopefully on restart windows will find new hardware ( touchpad )
and install it correctly for you
I also have encountered that problem particularly on my touchpad. When I tried to open the laptop I've notice that the flex cable connecting the touchpad to my motherboard is detached. When I put them back. It was working properly.
To enable the touchpad scroll features, you you have to install the touchpad driver. The basic touchpad features work without the driver installed but the scrolling requires it.
Try This.... May work if touch-pad driver is installed correctly....
Go to control panel ---> choose control panel home ---> click hardware & sound ---> click the 'mouse' word(mouse properties will appear) ---> select dell touchpad ----> click on the touchpad diagram( dell touchpad setting will appear) -----> select scrolling option -----> tick enable on the checkbox ----> then click apply and ok.....
[ here, i attached picture aiding you with the step ]
