No dubt about that! I would have take the 3gb ddr2 ram!
In a couple of years from now, when everything supports DDR3 i would have taken the DDR3, but today i take 3gb DDR2!

was your vostro 230 third generation? meaning, did it use DDR2 memory before or always had DDR3? They are not compatible. 2nd generation computers cannot use third gen parts. cpu, ram, most none of that type stuff. the motherboards are different and cannot change. if it was ddr2 memory you have to use ddr2, not ddr3, hope that helps.

I bought a new 1GB ram(DD2) when i insert it it nt work bt whenever i insert it with old 512MB ram then its work bt in bios setting only show the 1GB ram

Maybe 1GB is the maximum amount of memory that your system will hold. And maybe your system likes memory to be in pairs, so when you put the 1GB in by itself it didn't work, but when you put it in with a 512MB it works.

Model type & number of 512mb or 1gb ram memory for

There are many different specifiactions for RAM.
Firstly is it Desktop or Notebook RAM that you are looking for.

Below is a list of RAM specifiactions:
DDR
DDR2
DDR3

Now these RAM specifiacations run at different clock speeds.

For example:
DDR 400MHz
DDR2 800MHZ
DDR3 1333MHz

What I need you to do is to tell me the following:
What is it to be used for, Desktop or Notebook/Laptop?
What is written on the RAM modules? You may need to remove one from your computer or use a software program like CPU-Z to check what it is you are running in your computer.

I have Acer laptop Aspire 5570z module Zr1 with memory 1GB I want to increase memory 2GB or 3GB Is it possible or not What will be the expenditure?

Your laptop's RAM is upgradeable to up to 4 GB using two DDR2 533/667 MHz SODIMM modules.

So your upgrade options here are:
1. Buy a 1 GB DDR2 533/667 MHz SODIMM module & install it to get a total RAM of 2 GB (Price around US$ 25).
2. Buy a 2 GB DDR2 533/667 MHz SODIMM module & install it to get a total RAM of 3 GB (Price around US$ 45).

I wanna know that is XFX 9800gt supported on intel DG31PR motherboard or any PCI express motherboard ? I also wanna know that is it a good combination of 9800gt DDR3 1gb and DDR2 RAM 2gb?? Please reply me...

nVidea 9800gt is a good card... probably not a question of if the MB will support it as much as if your power supply will. It needs a secondary 6 pin power connection.

Any MB with 16x PCI slow will run the board. The different RAM types on the MB and Video card will nto matter as much as the throughput of the PCI bus...

2GB ram on you main board, hope you are not running anything serious.... I do a fair amount of video with a 9500GT. Quad Core 2.66, 6 GB ram and am looking to upgrade to an I7 with 12GB and a nVidia 250 or better....

Keep in mind that XFX makes pretty bleeding edge stuff for gamers, and with that technology comes a few problems with compatibility or drivers. That card should work fine with any PCI Express slot Ver 2.0 or above.
DDR3 will always handle data better faster and cleaner than DDR2 IF your board is designed for it, not just compatible with it. I f the DDR you mention is on the Video card then you need to consider the games you play first. DDR2 at 2gig will for instance load graphics heavy scenes better than DDR3 at half the memory on a MMORPG, but the DDR3 board will do a pretty good job as well with faster rendering when turning for instance. The 2 boards will be quite similar in most cases except when in a party battling multiple foes and handling special lighting effects, then you may notice some minor shading effects with the 1gig board. For more insight into this tradeoff of performance and ram try Tom's Hardware Guide and look at his review on the 9800 series.
