Step 1. Install a roll of paper on the spool, and install the spool on the printer. The fixed end of the spool should be on your right side as you face the printer. The paper should come off the top of the roll.

step 2. open the window and support it with the built in support. Lift the blue handle, located just to the right and above the spool adjacent to the black roller.

Step 3 Pull out about a yard of paper and feed it in front of the black roller and in back into the printer. You really don't need to be precise, the path will accept the paper. Keep pushing the paper until it comes up the the top, then pull the paper from the top.

Step 4 If the edge of the paper is cut square just line it up with the front edge of the printer and on the right there is a blue edge guide mark. If the paper has not been cut square then pull it out far enough that it reaches the spool and line the left and right edges up with the roll and also the blue line.

step 5 Lower the window and the handle. The printer will attempt to install the paper. Respond to the questions that appear on the screen and you should be good to go.

I can walk you through it by phone if you need more help.

Load valid paper for color calibration

When you perform a color calibration on an HP designjet you must use a certain paper. HP bond plotter paper should be one of them. If you are not concerned about perfect color calibration you can lie to the printer and tell it you installed the paper it wants. If it cannot detect that this paper is not exactly what it is looking for it will perform the color calibration. Just keep in mind that it might not be exact or may fail.

How can i install hp designjet 5500 PS on my com puter using network cable? My plotter (hp designjet 5500) do not have USB port instead it has netwok port from which one can install via the local network...

You are doing some mistake.

All peripherals will attach directly to the main server or main system.

Then from the main system you attach the network switch and share the peripherals with other
system.

you connect the printer, plotter, scanner etc to your computer directly through the aproprite cable /
port.

MY PLOTTER DOES NOT TAKE PAPER

***try to clean sensors: maybe it's dust on them.

Then if you are running latest Windows versions, you'll need a driver. Hp has dicontinued your plotter.

Hp designjet 450c error lights

Take all cartridges out while the plotter is on,then re-insert them one by one and watch the ready light flash after each insertion. If it doesn't flash that could mean 2 things, either the cartridge is bad or the contacts on the carriage are dirty or the entire carriage needs replacing.
I tell all of my dj-4XX customers to check the spittoon assembly(on the inside, right side)for ink buildup. If it looks clogged, you can temporarily scoop the ink that solidified out,but eventually it(spittoon)will need replacing.
Hope this helps
