I sugest you use compressed air and blow carefull in the projector.
Take out the new lamp and remove the topshell before using the copressed air. If that dosent help i recomend you to let a pro clean the lenses inside. Its not that easy to do that yourself, they are quite smal and fragile and its very easy to damage them if you doing it wrong.

Good luck to you M8

Here is the manual if that helps you

You need to clean the mirrors inside your projector, you can either open the shell and use compressed air,to clean it
If you are going use compressed air, make sure you dont ever hold it near the mirrors.but you can can also give to a professional to clean if you cant clean it Its cheap to clean a projector by a pro, it takes a pro about 10-15 minits to do it.

if after cleaning and the problem still persists then You probably have a polarizer failing on one of the LCD panels inside.

There are 3 of these in LCD projectors, red, green, and blue. They all
get the light fed into them, that light is then combined and fed
    through the projection lens.

    this few steps gives you an idea on How to clean the unit;

    1. Underside of the projector. you can find the filter under the hatch on the left side, lamp is under the hatch on the right rear.de of the projector.

    2. Filter hatch opened and fan bracket removed. Filter is gray foam in lower left. Clean the filter with canned air or wash and dry thouroughly before replacing.

    3. Clean the projecter using a canned air.

    4. Hold the unit vertically to avoid any liquid get inside of the parts

    5. On the LCD and polarizer area. You've got to blow out all the crevices in this area, using care not to scratch or dislocate anything.

    All done!

More then cleaning the lenses , you will need to reassemble them, or replace them.

Looks like the lens assembly is out of place or damaged, the lens assemby should be taken apart and re-mounted.

Call the phone number listed on the owner manual to get a replacement lens instead.

X2 OHP mounted on ceiling fixture. Image is dark on right side

Yes it will have to come off the ceiling. It sounds like the light tunnel has collasped. This is located under the colorwheel. If you can get a new tunnel , be careful removing the colorwheel so no segments break off of it...make sure the new tunnel is pushed against the "lip" before screwing the tunnel clip back into place.

Blue diust specs constellation like!

If you are seeing the "spots" when a black screen is projected, the problem is likely to be scattering caused by dust on the lens. If you can get at both ends of the lens assembly, clean both sides using lens tissue. If the spots are seen at all times, there may be damage to one or more of the LCD panels.

Please update this with your results of the cleaning.

Thanks,
Dan

Optoma HD72 displays white circles when the picture is dark

Have your projector professionally cleaned. It is dust in the inside optics. You should not attempt unless you are very skilled. if you are going to do this yourself have a lot of compressed air on hand.

hi all... i have this projector and it boosts up flashes the blue screen and sometimes the projected image too. then goes to standby mode.

I have managed to keep it going enough to see the problem for myself. Here is what i did.. lye the projector on its left side while a cool blower blows through the left side of the lamp housing. fire it up and it will stay on. I went to the menu and did a factory reset as well as lamp hours reset. checked the lamp hours and it was at zero. so its never going to stay on for long for one reason.

As the lamps get older the emit more heat and therefore cause the unit to shutdown. so if you want it to work your going to have to order that lamp. The cheapest i found is from austrailia link off ebay below.

last link is for the manual found in this forum but not clear on how to get it.

Hope you get a good result bulb on order.

Yellow area in the projected image

Hello Media Man,

Looks like your projector has done it. Thats acommon trouble to ageing polirising lens, usually the blue. less blue, the green and red make up the yellowish image on the screen. The blue is bombarded with tremendous heat from the lamp and it fade and wash out. If its free, its worth replacing. Get quote for the poliriser; 2 pieces each color.
Good Luck.

Help.....

Hi there.

This is definetly the light tunnel issue. After searching and a million phonecalls, I tracked down a place that you can buy the light tunel for $41 on their own and simply put that in, making the projector good as new.
I Have the phone number of the place and also the link to the forum giving you fully pictured diagrams of how to change the light tunnel, and also I have a service manual if anyone would like it to be sent to them.

Cheers
Russ

1/2 the screen is viewable

You would be wrong. Lamps do not do that. They either work or they don't, they do not cast shadows or give half an image.

What is going on is the light tunnel has failed. It is a small, 4-sided mirrored tunnel that focuses the light into the optical chamber. It is directly behind the color wheel. I've seen this probelm dozens of times.
