Same BS wifi problem as everyone else

Have you tried restoring the computer back a couple of days to see if that clears up the hardware hiccup? You can also go to device manager and uninstall the device and delete the drivers. Turn the laptop off, take the wireless card out. Start the laptop back up and boot it fully....After a few, shut down again. Install the wireless card and restart the laptop. When asked to install the drivers for new device found, say ok, make sure you are online with an ethernet line so windows can go online and load the newest drivers unless you have them on your C drive already.

Wireless connection: computer says device unplugged, but it's not. All the settings are correct, but still cannot connect to home network. Used to work before computer software (Win XP Media Edition) was...

Hello Michael,

Windows XP Media Center Edition (MCE) does not normally say cable unplugged. I think you are looking at your Local Area Network (LAN) connection. Make sure your wireless card drivers are installed, and the device is enabled.

1. Click Start
2. Right Click My Computer
3. Click Manage
4. Select Device Manager in Left Column of Newly Opened Window.

Make sure your wireless card does not have a yellow caution sign on it, and make sure your wireless card also does not have a red X. (If you when you select device manager, no devices show that right away, then it should be ok)

If there is a yellow caution sign, you may need to install drivers or your device is having some sort of issue.

If there is a red 'X' on the device, right click the device, and select enable. Again verify there is no caution sign.

Make sure your wireless radio is also turned on.

Let me know if you need further assistance.

As a reminder, if this post helps, please rate it. Thankyou.

Hello mccree08,

The installed network adapters can be viewed in the windows device manager which can be accessed through the windows control panel as follows:

•Opening the Control Panel
The Windows Control Panel can be opened by:
Selecting Start > Control Panel (on Windows Vista)
- OR -
Start > Run > Type 'Control' and select OK (on Windows XP)

•In the Control Panel, Select Device Manager

•In Device Manager, Select 'Network Adapters'

The netgear wpn 511 adapter will appear there if it is correctly installed.

WIRELESS INTERNET AT HOME WITH PROXIM NOT WORKING WITH Y VISTA

Make sure you enable the wireless card in device manager.
and also check the wireless card switch (switch it to enable/disable wireless card) on the front (close to headphone jack). If it isnot working, it's something wrong with your wireless card.

Have you tried looking in your device manager to see if all is ok in there. If your PCMCIA port isn't working maybe it can be fixed from the device manager. Could just need the driver updated. I hope this problem works out asap for you.

Connection problems

Hi,
Your query "is there anyway...remove...wireless network connections 1-8 ...solely on 3?"

In your Device Manager, delete all instances of the wireless network connection except # 3.

However in WinXP, the default setting of the Device Manager is to  hide certain devices (like printers, non plug & play devices and removable devices not currently installed/connected).

In your Device Manager, pls click on "View", check "Show Hidden Devices." Thus enabled, all hidden devices (whether multiple or not) will now be displayed.

Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back how things turned out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
