If it was transported upright you should be able to plug it up right away and allow it to start cooling peyton..

When i moved my kic chest freezer model kc0021-Aa, I heard an light explosive sound and now the freezer does not go on.

The following is the GE moving instructions. If you have started before the 24 hour rest period and the unit had been rotated from vertical have the compressor inspected.

FREEZER MOVING INSTRUCTIONS Please use the following steps when relocating an upright or chest freezer:
  1. Disconnect the power cord from the wall receptacle.
  2. Remove the food, defrost, and clean the freezer.
  3. Use blankets to protect the freezer finish from scratches.
  4. Place the freezer on its side for moving only if you have no other choice.
  5. When transporting a freezer, keep it in an upright position. If transporting it in an upright position is not possible, lay it down on the compressor side of the unit. Be careful to secure the door to prevent it from opening.
  6. If it has been transported on its side, set it right side up in its final location and allow the freezer to sit for the same amount of time that it was on its side (24 hrs max.). Do not plug the unit into the electrical receptacle without allowing this settling time. The unit can be damaged if it is plugged in prematurely.

If the unit was transported in an upright position there is no waiting time required.

Hope this helps?

I'm movin house & taking my frdge/Freezer with me. Whats the best way to have it in the van? Stand up, on its side, on its back, or does it not matter as long as its secured. Thanx Debbie

fridges / freezers are meant to placed standing up at all times
laying down creates problems with the oil getting ion top of the pistons in the compressor and blocking the orifice in the evaporator system
you can tilt them as on a fridge trolley or to load and unload but not for any more than a few minutes

Since your fridge/freezer has been in storage the gas has settled, did the fridge/freezer get put on its side at any stage during the move?
This could have caused leakage out the breather pipe, have a look at the condenser at the back of the fridge, down low, you will see two hard pipes coming out of the tank, one leads up into the fridge the other doubles over, is open ended and facing downward, this is the breather and gas can escape from this pipe when the appliance is tilted to far over.
Chances are high that you will need to service this appliance.
its a good idea not to turn on immediately after moving. giving the gas time to settle again before turning on.
It could be the door seals need replacing as they can go hard over time when just sitting and no longer form a good seal on the door.

Hiya, u should leave a fridge and freezer after moving it at least 24 hours before switching it on because the gases need to settle. If it has been switched off perhaps you need to check the plug just in case the wires have loosened. hope i was of some help to you kind regards

Put refrigerator in storage for 8 months, doesnt cool now.

Did you switch it on immediately after returning it to your home? If you did the unit has probably burned out because the oil/gas had not yet settled in the compressor after the fridge had been tilted. After a fridge has been moved, it should be allowed to stand for a minimum of three hours before being switched on again.

I own a KIC Fridge the problem is that the door does not closes the rubber does not grip tightly when closing. I have to sometimes lean on the fridge for 5-10 seconds for it to close and it sometimes does...

Hi did anyone get back to you on this? I have a KIC Fridge and it does the same... take out the top door shelf/rack but then you MUST unscrew the light (cause otherwise your light never goes off and your food doesn't stay cold) cause the top shelf/rack in the door switches off the light... anyway... once the top shelf is out, the door will close better.... not sure how else to fix it though...

Plugged new lg LSC27921..how do we turn it on

There is not central power switch fitted to this model, check:
1. All cables are connected at both ends.
2. The wires to the control panel are connected, to check this remove the plastic cove that covers the top hinge of the door with the control panel and make sure that connecters are correct. Of course you should make sure that the fridge is unplugged before you do this.
let me know if that solves your problem.

Also remember to allow your new fridge to settle after moving it before plugging it in as the gas takes up to 12 hours to settle.

Can I transport a whirpool side by side refrigerator / freezer, laying it down on it's side for 5 hours? If when I reach my destination I stand it upright for 48 hrs. before I plug it in.

The short answer is yes, but the key is to make certain not to plug in and start the fridge for at least 24 hours once it is upright and in the final location.

The reasons manufacturers caution against transporting/moving a fridge on it's side also has to do with the possibility of damaging the doors and hinge plates. The big reason is because people tend to want to start filling up their new fridge with food right away, so they plug it in once it's in their house.

If a fridge has been shipped on its' side, the compressor oil tends to wick/flow into the piping and can cause a failure, if not allowed to drain back into the compressor when the fridge is placed back upright.

Although not the best way to transport, you can do it if you allow time for things to settle back before powering it up.

Gas; which also means that it has a leak that must be repaired and fixed. You cannot  buy refrigiation gas unless you have a license from the EPA.

Kenmore fidge not getting cold

transporting fridge items on the side mixes up the oil and the gas together, inside the compressor bottle at the back, this should never be mixed, when you move fridge appliances you should always stand appliance where it is going to be for 24 hours before switching back on to allow the gas and oil to settle and separate back apart again. many engineers may tell you this does not matter and you can lay items down etc, this is absolute bull and must not be done as for allowing it to stand 24 hours, the opinion is mixed, but common sense tell you, if you move something, let it settle afterwards, and the longer you give it to do so the better OBVIOUSLY sorry there is no diy repair
