And again and again and drives you up the wall.OK-boot sector is corrupted, or hard drive is going south. What you can try is system restore. On boot see which button is designated for that-usually f10 or f12.Start tapping that button and follow instructions. If that failed, the only option is to reinstall OS.If you have a lot of stuff that you want to save, install Windows in different folder, say WindowsA.All your stuff will be saved on the Hard drive-My Documents.Good luck and keep us posted.

My sister-in laws's Dell PC was shut down by a power failure in the area and now has been loading the following for the last day or so. What does this mean and what do I do. Loading PBR for ...

1. See if you can reboot the PC in 'safe mode" if not
2. then you will have to format the hard drive and reload the Windows operating system.
The PBR you refer to is the MBR (MASTER BOOT RECORD).
the hard drive has gotten a power spike from the restored power and wipe the boot record from it.

Start up gets to "Loading PBR for descriptor 2... done"

I suspect that the viruses had infected some of the files that windows needed to boot up. The moment you ran the Mcafee, the scanning might have deleted or quarantined those files. That is the reason you're having this Loading PBR message because it is now trying to boot from the network and not from the hard drive. You will need to repair windows using the CDs that came with the computer (the Operating system CD/DVD) and run CHKDSK /R at the screen where it says 'repair your computer using the command prompt". If this does not work, chances are, you may need to reinstall windows and everything and that all information in your hard drive will be wiped out.

My oven display is beeping and blinking 'PBR' on the display. What does that mean?

I had this same problem last night.. I have been having problems with the oven shutting off on preheat.. That sort of stopped. Last night lost power to the house. When it returned the oven was beeping and flashing PBR. I turned off the breaker for a few mins. last night and it returned. It was bugging me so much that turned it off the whole night. Woke up this morning turned the breaker back on and it stopped. I don't think this is the total solution. I am thinking that eventually I am going to have to replace power board in this oven. Hope it works!
