How to change google to homepage

To provide a better answer, I would need to know what Operating System (Windows or Mac OS X, etc.). Typically you can change this from within the browser, within a settings area. I've provided links below for three popular browsers:

How to set goggle as default browser

Google is a search engine not a browser.
You can run any browser such as Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox and get them to default to Google as the default search engine or you can save Google as a Favourite in IE or a Bookmark in Firefox.

To set Google as the default home page in IE.
Open Internet Explorer then enter www.google.com when Google page opens then Click on Tools - Internet Options
In the General tab click Use current.
Now when you open IE then Google automatically opens.

To set Google as the default home page in Firefox.
Open Firefox then enter www.google.com when Google page opens then Click on Tools - Options
In the General tab click Use current pages.
Now when you open Firefox then Google automatically opens.

If you are using any other browsers then setting up Google as the default page is configures in a similar method.

When i try to enter some wapsites it says 'page not found'is there any other better browser?

I prefer Mozilla Firefox, it is fast and secure. You can download it free from the Mozilla web site as you can Thunderbir, their free email browser which beats Microsoft hands down!
Hope that helps.

How do i make wi fi work on it?

Hello

Disconnect your modem from the wall socket it's plugged into.

Connect the Ethernet cable to the back of the modem. There is a clearly marked Ethernet port here. This port will appear to be an oversized telephone jack.

Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on the back of the wireless router. This port will look exactly the same as the one on the rear of the modem.

Plug the broadband modem back up to the wall socket and wait for it to power on, initialize and detect its new connection to the wireless router.

Locate the manual that shipped with your wireless router. Find the URL, or web address, that is contained within the pages of this manual. This special web address is used to set up your router's network and security permissions. Also, be sure to locate the default password provided within the pages of the manual.

Enter the URL into your web browser and allow the page to load. When prompted, enter the password that you found within the instruction manual.

Begin setting up your new wireless network. You will be asked for an "SSID," which is just a moniker for your new network. This will be the name seen when the network is listed in an available network list. Choose whatever name you like.

Select a password for your new network. While encrypting your network is optional, it is highly recommended. Along with the password, choose "WPA" security encryption. "WEP" will also be an option but it is an older security protocol that is technologically inferior to WPA.

Click "Apply" to save your changes.

Click on the wireless icon on the right-hand side of the bottom toolbar on your PC's desktop. Select your network's SSID from the drop-down list.

Enter the password you chose for your network. You will now be connected to WiFi Internet on your PC desktop and free to browse the Web.

Inter net browser opens but doesn't connect, internet connection is connected but cant connect to the browser? I'm using either Firefox or IE on a dell 8300 that had a vundo problem. since I ran a clean up...

this is typical, there's a new virus that overwrites the dns server details and the only fix for this problem is either to waste hours recovering dns or doing a clean installation will fix it. "clean installation means format the hard drive, and re-install your operating system"

please rate me.

I lost the instructions on how to install a Linksys wireless router. I would like to down load these instructions.

cable setup

This guide is recommended for Cable Internet Service in the USA like Charter, Cox, Comcast, Cable Vision, etc.
  1. First you need to connect the device together. You need to connect your cable modem to the internet port on the back of the router, and the computer should go to one of the 4-port on the router labeled Ethernet (1, 2, 3, 4).
  2. Then turn on the modem first, wait for the lights to stabilize before powering on the Linksys router. Lights that you should have on the router are Power (solid green), Wireless/WLAN (Green sometimes flashing), One of the no. lights where the computer is plugged in (flashing), And the internet light (flashing).
After doing this step there are times that this will already get you online. If the internet will not work, you continue following the steps 3.

3. If the internet is still not working; we will need to adjust a setting on the router setup page. To access the setup page of the router you need to open your internet explorer or Firefox on the computer that is hardwired directly to the router. In the address bar of your browser (Internet Explorer or Firefox) type http://192.168.1.1/ and hit enter or click Go. It will ask you for a username and password. Just type "admin" for the password field and there is no username. If you have ran the setup CD prior to this, then use the password that you have set when were running the setup CD.
4. Once you are in the setup page of your router make sure that the Internet Connection Type is set to Automatic Configuration DHCP, then click the save the settings button at the bottom of the page. After saving the settings, click the sub tab at the very top of the page that says MAC Address Clone. Set it to enable and click the button that will say Clone or Clone your PC's MAC and save the settings again.

5. After doing step 4, do a power cycle. Power cycle is done by turning of the router, modem and computer. Leave them off for a minute, tuned them back on in this order. Modem first wait for the lights to stabilize, then the router wait until the power light become solid. Then turn on the computer. This will get you online through the router.

Hello, I have a RCA digital broadband model #DHG535-2 modem from comcast, i recently purchased a Linksys wireless-g broadband router model #WRT54G2V1 The problem I am having is connecting from my laptop...

If your trying to connect wirelessly with your laptop make sure that you have the following information of the router;
1. Wireless network name or SSID
2. Wireless security settings; WEP 64/128 bit ot WPA

If your not familiar with the settings then you may need to access the setup page of your wireless router. Hardwire the laptop to the router or if you have a main computer that is already connected with an ethernet cable, open Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox or any web browser you are currently using. On the address bar type http://192.168.1.1 (router's default IP), then you will receive a pop up asking for a username and a password, there is no username and for the password type "admin" then click the Wireless tab on the router and check the basic wireless settings, if your not comportable with the settings then change the following; SSID - use a name that is easy to remember, Channel - 1,6, 11 is ideal, then for the Wireless Security choose WPA Personal and enter a 8 digit WPA Passphrase(pasword), remember to click save settings every tab that yuo go to or else the settings will na take effect. Then check if the laptop will detect the signal of the router and when it prompts you for a password or network key, just enter the 8 digit code that you have configured earlier.

If you have further questions regarding the setup of the router just post a reply and I'll to give you a response if my sched will allow me.

Hope this will atleast provide you with some idea in setting the router properly for your laptop.

Regards,

How do i configure my dlink 302g modem to my new ISP's settings?

Hi Nitangel
Before proceeding with modem installation you need to gather your connection details from your Internet Provider. You will need to know or find out the following information about your new ADSL connection from your Internet Service Provider:

Connection Type:
PPPoE
PPPoA
Bridge RFC1483

Default IP address: 10.1.1.1 (USB 10.1.1.2)
Username: admin
Password: admin

· Username / password (PPP connections only)
· IP address / Subnet Mask / Default Gateway (Bridge connections only)
· DNS IP Addresses (optional)

To set up, log into the modem using your WEB browser: type http://10.1.1.1 in the address bar and press Enter.
Enter username 'admin' and
password 'admin' (default setting).

Go to Quick Configuration page.
Set Refresh Rate to "No Refresh".

If it is a PPPoE or PPPoA CONNECTION:
Select Operation Mode: PPP.
In the Connection Type drop-down menu select PPPoE or PPPoA profile.
Enter username and your password.
Select CHAP under Authentication Type (check with your ISP if not sure).

If it is a BRIDGED RFC1483 CONNECTION:
Select Operation Mode: Bridge. If you do not see "Bridge" options please update your modem's firmware at http://www.dlink.com.au/tech/
Select LLC or VC Mux as suggested by your provider.

Make sure your VPI/VCI is set according to your ISP requirements:

Click on "Save & Reboot" to save settings.

Then give modem a minute or two to reboot and reconnect. Restart your computer and you should be able to access the Internet.

You do not have to run any login client on your computer or router because your modem logs to your ISP automatically.

Hope this information helps if I can help further let me know.
