How do i switch to external monitor

Virtually all IBM and Lenovo ThinkPad and ThinkCenter laptops allow you to hook up an additional monitor or projector to the computer. When you add an external monitor or projector to your notebook, you can choose to view the display on the computer, on the external device, or on both the laptop and the external monitor or projector at the same time. Toggling between viewing devices is as simple as pressing a couple of keys on the keyboard.

Shut down the laptop. Plug the VGA monitor cable from the external monitor or projector into the blue VGA port on the back of the computer. Turn on the external monitor or projector first, and then the Lenovo laptop. Allow the notebook to boot into Windows normally. Press the "Fn" and "F7" keys at the same time to switch the display from the laptop to the external monitor or projector. Press the "Fn" and "F7" keys again to enable the display on both the laptop and the external display device. Press the "Fn" and "F7" keys again to display screen contents only on the laptop LCD. choose support you need http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-54305.html http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-4YQHUC.html enable tv out on thinkpad http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-58625

I cannot get the computer image to appear.

On your keyboard, bottom left is the Function "FN" key. This is hel down and then press the F series key on top row that has either lcd or a monitor icon on it. Maybe F5, F7 or F8. This tells the pc you hooked up an additional monitor. Once sends image to projector and laptop. Twice, only projector. Three times back to only laptop. Let me know this worked.

First time using infocus 1x projector with this laptop - installed drivers but there is no start up screen on the projector and will not display laptop image.

You have to tell the computer you hooked up an additional external monitor. Lower left on the keyboard you will see a "FN" key. Across the top, your F keys...look for an icon that looks like a monitor. Usually F5, F7 or F8. Hold down the FN key and select the F5 etc key which is the command to display the image through the external port. Doing this once displays image through the projector and laptop. Twice displays image to projector only and three times returns to display only on laptop again.

I am running Windows XP on my laptop. I plan to give a presentation using Powerpoint, and I'd like to plug a projector into the laptop. I cannot figure out how to play Powerpoint's presentation on the...

Couple ways. If you hook up the projector before turning on the laptop it should work. The preferred way, however, is to 'toggle' to the external moniter on your keyboard. Look for a icon on the Function keys (usually F4 or F5) on the top of your keyboard that looks like an external display. It may have a color, like green. It the lower left there maybe a key of the same color. You need to hold the lower left key while pressing the F key at the top. It will likely toggle between the external monitor only, both monitors, and internal only. Good luck.

"no signal" message when laptop is plugged into projector

There is a key on the keyboard that has blue text on it. Something to the effect of LCD or CRT. With the monitor connected and turned on, press and hold the FCN KEY as well as the LCD/CRT key. While holding the FCN key keep hitting the CRT key until the image transfers to the external monitor

How to connect to toshiba projector my computer so i can view from my monitor and the screen

Projectors typically require RCA (yellow - round - single pin) or S-Video (black - round - multipin) connections. Look for a key on your keyboard that has a monitor symbol on it (sometimes 2 symbols - on/off). Once you have connected the projector and turned it on, tap the monitor key and you should see your desktop projected. I've also seen laptops where you need to enable the secondary display thru the 'Display Settings'.
