51 E6 error, door latch error

Kitchenaid KGRA806PSS gas range. The first problem I noticed was that I would turn on the oven and it would get stuck on a low temp. it happened twice and both times i shut the oven off and turned it back on and it would then work ok. A few weeks later I turned the oven on and after about 1 minute the oven went off and the error code F1 E6 appeared on the panel, and the oven does not work at all.. We unplugged the stove and waited awhile and plugged it back in and received DOOR LATCH NOT OPERATING. we also get that code when recalling the last error code. We called for service ( 3 years old and no warranty) the repair person told me that it would cost us 1000.00 to repair it because it was the control board that got fried from the heat from the oven due to where it is situated. He said it happens to all of these stoves and that it would happen again if we had it replaced and we should buy a new stove.he did not even look at the stove. all he did was read the paperwork. Instead we read the manual and it seemed that this code pointed to changing the control board. we bought a new one and replaced it and it still does not work. we still got the same codes. we can't return the part because we installed it. we tested the door latch and it doesn't seem to be operating but we don't know if its a faulty door latch or something else causing the door latch not to work. I never had the problem of the door not opening after cleaning the oven. We need to know what to do next. What parts to order? when testing the latch it does show that the motorized lock is not working.

the door did not ever lock up. we did replace the control board with a brand new one and we are still getting the same code. F1 E6 and when unplugging and replugging the power - we get latch not operating.

  • L mc Jan 28, 2009

The door is not locked. I never had that problem. We did unplug for over an hour.

  • L mc Jan 28, 2009

and again. we did replace the control board with a brand new one. the same codes are coming up. is the control board that you are talking about - the one directly behind the control panel? that is the one we replaced.

  • L mc Jan 28, 2009

i tried the resets nothing worked.

  • L mc Jan 28, 2009

we have already contacted kitchenaid with no help from them.

  • L mc Jan 28, 2009

Kitchenaid Gas Range oven not working. F1 E6 error code. Also latch not operating error on display board. called kitchenaid - they had us reset. it didn't work. they sent repairman from A & E. He said it was the computer. we opted to repair it ourselves. we bought the control board and installed. oven still does not work, still getting the same errors. What else can this be? THE DOOR IS NOT LOCKED. IT NEVER LOCKED.

  • L mc Jan 28, 2009

WHAT IF THE PRESSURES AND AIR DOME DO NOT PASS TESTING?

  • L mc Jan 28, 2009

thanks. i ordered the part. i'll let you know if it fixes the problem.

  • L mc Feb 03, 2009

Kitchenaid KGRA806PSS gas range. error code F1 E6 when preheating oven. oven shut down. recalled last error ( latch not operating ) replaced the control board. same errors came up. replaced motorized door latch. same errors. still no solution.

  • L mc Feb 03, 2009

the door latch has been replaced. still errors and oven doesn't work.

  • L mc Feb 03, 2009

The door latch has been replaced. I believe the door switch and door latch are one piece. I am at a loss of what to do.

  • L mc Feb 03, 2009

the problem is with a gas range. not a printer

  • L mc Feb 03, 2009

this gas range is not yet 3 years old. the oven stopped working and the control panel showed an internal error. F1E6. when unplugged and waiting an hour and replugging. the error became "latch not operating". the stove is not under warranty so we researched the errors. everything pointed to changing the control board. we replaced it and it did not fix the problem. we also replaced the motorized latch with no luck. we do not know what to do next. we were told it would cost 1000.00 to have it repaired. its not even 3 years old. any technical help with this or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thank you,

F1 E6 is faulty control board, the door latch had been locked for security reasons.

Try unplugging for longer (or trip circuit breaker).

Unplug the appliance for oine hour or so and see if this reset F1 E6 , if it does not you need to replace control board.

To unlock door latck you can try moving the timer control knob while you press the door latch at the same time, try also holding door latch and press cancel.

Even if you unlock the door you will need to replace the control board if error does not reset by itself.

    See also here.

Here is also a reset procedure that works on same Sears/Kenmore ranges.

STEP 1 Power off and wait 5 seconds.

STEP 2 Power on and wait 5 seconds.

STEP 3 Press the following keys:

CONVECTION - CONV. BROIL CLEAN BAKED GOODS 190 TIMER SET

    NON-CONVECTION - CLEAN STOP TIME 0 OVEN LIGHT 1

    STEP 4 Press START.

STEP 5 Make sure Timer ID is the same as the oven.

STEP 6 Press CANCEL to exit.

    Try also folowing reset procedure:

    "POWER OFF 5 SEC

    POWER ON WAIT 5 SEC

    CONVECTION BROIL

    CLEAN

    BAKED GOODS

    "STOP TIME"

    190

    TIMER SET

    START

Then depending on whether it is free-standing etc. the START button is pressed. I have a free standing so it was 12 times. "

Replace the door switch.(This is a very common problem)
You may also consider replacing the latch as well.

You got a bum for a repair man. Yes it is the door latch, I find that these codes are usually right on the money. I love fault codes they make my job easier. replace the latch and you should be all set. Sorry to hear you got stuck w/ the panel.

The F1 error code indicates a primary control failure or pressure signal out of range. Once the pressure hose & air dome have passed testing, the control board will need replaced.

Also you need to replace touch sensor panel .

I found this online...hope it helps. Look towards the center of the door, next to the "self clean latch" youll see a thin metal "plunger", try pressing this in and then restarting a clean cycle, then quickly cancel clean it should reset the lock/latch mechanism

hmmm....that interlock is dependent on a temperature sensor, to ensure that no one opens that door when it's too hot inside. I'm assuming that it's still locked, even after the temperature has dropped off?

Kitchenaid KGSS907 oven door locked after self clean mode, what I must do?

Thermostat at the back/rear might have blown.
Is the oven still working?
Then the door actuator motor may have failed.

Kitchenaid KGSS907 oven door locked while in self clean mode

It locks so you dont open it during the cleaning cycle. It gets very hot so it burns everything stuck fast to a crisp. after cycle is over and temp drops it will unlock. dont worry about a small amount of fire as long as it dosent get too big it should be fine. Might make alot of smoke though.

Oven went dead in self clean mode and the door remains locked. Is this the thermostat? How do I get the door unlocked when control panel shut down? Kitchenaide KGRA806

Unplugged the stove and turn off the gas.Take the back off the oven and replace the thermostat. It's super easy. Before you buy the part call kitchen aid... this is a known problem. They will say the parts are not free and try to give you a discount. But if you continue to argue , they'll send it for free.
