The charging lamp burning, does not give any guaranty about the quality of the battery. It only shows power is applied to the battery.
Your battery although it still can have a little charge, can be on its end of life. The only way to be sure the battery is still fine is to measure its voltage with a multi meter. If you do so, the voltage should be above the voltage printed on the battery. The nominal voltage on the battery is the voltage it will have when working in he camera. I think you have to buy a new battery. And please when you have a new battery, charge it several times a year, even when you don't use it between the holidays.
Hi this is common problem if your sure that these batterys are new and you have used that make and type of battery before than the problem will be on the board of the camera itself. If these batterys are ones you have not used in your camera before then the chances are these batterys are just not powerfull enough so you can by a recharge pack for your camera ok so let me know if its new batterys and if you have used this type before.
Also insted of using the lcd can you turn the screen of then try taking picture using normal view finder as you would on a none digital cam
It could just be that the batterys you brought are faulty and might be worth trying another set before giving up. These camera usuall wont switch on with normal batterys so just try another set or if you have let me know. If the battery says low bat then goes off then these batterys will not work if tryed again but if you can get camera on turn off the screen then try taking picture ok get back to me and let me know ok
If the troubleshooting section in the back of the user guide doesn't help, I sugget getting in touch with Sony and asking them if it's normal, the only thing I can suggest in the meantime, is taking the battery out while it's not in use, or recharge it a few hours before you're due to use it. Phones get like it after a few years and with technology advancing the way it is these days, you'd expect a battery life lasting longer than a week, not a day.
Things to consider:
1. When it's off, is it off or left on standby?
2. Where did you buy both the camera and batteries from?
3. When you charge it up, do you charge it up with a half charged battery or a totally dead battery?
