Keeps stopping even though I have taken it apart and checked for blockages. +

Are you sure your wall charger is working ok? You might just have a bad battery pack in the sweeper if your charger is working. Do you have a friend who knows electronics and has a voltmeter?

If so, have them check the voltage output of the charger at the plug that goes into the sweeper. Verify that the charger is indeed working ok. Then you will need to check the voltage on the battery pack inside the sweeper to see if your battery is good and holding a charge. A mechanical blockage could be something caught in the vacuum fan blade. You should be able to hold the main part of the sweeper up to your ear so you can hear and then pull the sweeper trigger and see if you can hear the motor try to start. Nothing happening may mean a dead battery pack. Regards, Dennis

Only 7 months old, does not turn on but fully charged

Options are faulty battery, bad switch, bad motor or broken wire. You can test the battery with a volt meter. You can short across the switch with a jumper to see if it starts. I doubt it is cost effective to have an expert at $50 an hour work on these imported disposable products.

Dyson will not start

If the power cells are operational and it will not start; then either the motor is dysfunctional or something is jammed in the intake module. A conduction test with instrumentation can indicate if the motor is the problem, the power cells are not fully charged, or you have a short circuit. Check Fuses.

Need battery for fhv1200

Black and Decker, does not provide a replacement battery for your model. It is supposed to last 4 years. I have been scouring the web in order to find a suitable replacement but can not find anything. Is there a model number on your battery pack that you can provide for further research?

My phv1800 18 volt hand vac's battery seems to be running down. is there any way to revive it? if not; can i purchase a new battery to replace it? thank you!

If you are handy with a soldering iron, and don't mind spending a few hours building a new battery pack using 1.2 volt "sub c" cells, you can disassemble the PHV1800, and rebuild the pack yourself. I just did it tonight, and the vacuum works like new.

However, I'm not going to do this again. The PHV1800 doesn't use a single battery pack, but 2 packs that have to be assembled with very little room for error. You can purchase a combination battery pack/motor assembly for $75 (US currency, price currect as of 10/2011), unscrew the screws that hold the vacuum together, and replace the battery/motor unit as one.

The battery won't hold a charge, is there a fix or is it replaceable?

Hi there,

Well first of all you may check that the charger (adapter) is working or not, you may use a volt meter to check it out or use another charger to make sure....... further you may follow the step below -
1. Remove the battery pack from Vacuum.
2. Hold down the power button for five seconds.
3. Reinstall the battery to reset the system.
4. Plug the Charger directly into vacuum.
5. Charge the battery untill the power light is solid green again and keep the vacuum on the charger for an additional 72 hours (3 days). Important: Do NOT interrupt this charging cycle.
If further you have the same problem it means it's time to change the old battery with new one.

Good Luck!!

Thanks for using FixYa!!

Our roomba 560 wont charge have replaced the battery Tested the charing unit with another roomba that all seems ok put the uncharged battery into another Roomba but im guessing it now has a memory as this...

Try cleaning the battery contacts with a little rubbing alcohol or contact cleaner on a foam swab, or a bit of paper towel. Take a litle time, it doesn't always dissolve instantly. (Don't use a pink pencil eraser, it would scrub off the plating that prevents corrosion) Clean both contacts on the battery pack and both of the contacts in the Roomba. Make sure the battery is oriented correctly when you put it back in. Also clean the charging base contacts and the corresponding contacts on the Roomba itself.
I'm not sure entirely sure what you're trying to recover - the new battery pack, the old battery pack, or the Roomba itself - but since you can swap parts back and forth, you can clearly isolate the problem. The old battery pack might be rehabilitatted if you have the equipment to recondition it, but if it may not work. The new battery shouldn't have been harmed that easily.

I am looking for a battery for a westinghouse model wst1600a

I too was looking for a battery for the WST1500a. I took the charger and a defective battery pack to BATTERIES PLUS. They rebuilt the pack with new fresh and fully charaged batteries in a short time. The result was good and better then a new battery pack that had been sitting on a store's shelf for 5 years. The advantage is that they are new batteries with a correct charage. The cost was about 75 dollars.

BATTERIES PLUS is a chain and are available in many large cities.

If you need a new "case" for the batteries so you can rebuild the pack, they do have some "packs" on E-Bay listed under BP1600. It's always a "hit and miss" on E-Bay. The problem is that the current vendor lists the BP1600 pack as a Black & Decker part and doesn't know exactly what he is selling. There is no picture of this on the current listing which isn't good.

Westinghouse Unplugged Vacuum Turns off after 5 Seconds.

If both batteries are behaving the same way then this is probably a charger problem. When you insert the battery pack into the charger does the 'charging' light blink for 30 minutes (fast charge) then go steady? I noticed that one of my batteries was causing the light to come on steady immediately I inserted it into the charger. When I tried to use the battery pack I got the same problem everyone else is seeing, i.e. vacuum cleaner shuts off in less than a minute, so I conclude that when the charging light is on steady then the battery is not being charged.

If the charging light does not blink when you insert the battery (i.e. comes on steady or not at all), try removing the battery and re-inserting it into the charger.

Try a conditioning cycle on your battery packs. To do this:
* Insert the battery pack into the charger
* Before the charging light lights press the 'condition' button located just above the charging light.
* The 'conditioning' light should blink. This is a light which does not normally illuminate, and it is located below the condition button and above the charging light. The charger fan will run quieter in this mode.
* Leave the battery pack in the charger for 24 hours while this cycle is taking place.

I'm not a service technician so perhaps someone else might like to post other solutions or corrections to this one.
