HI...IT COULD BE A BAD THERMAL FUSE NEAR THE OUTPUTS ....OR A COMPONENT HEATING UP TRIPPING THE THERMAL FUSE TO SHUT DOWN... OPEN IT UP SEE IF THE OUTPUTS ARE GETTING REALLY HOT.. IF IT IS NOT GETTING REALLY HOT... USE A JUMPER WIRE TO JUMP OUT THE THERMAL FUSE IF IT COMES RIGHT BACK ON.. GET A NEW THERMAL FUSE DON'T KEEP THE JUMPER ON (USE FOR TEST ONLY) GOOD LUCK

My Clarion APX480M marine amp cuts out at random

try to unplug each speaker one by one while playing it. There can be a defective speaker that grounds out at the speaker terminal or internally causing the amp to go into protection causing all the speakers to go out.

Hi, disconnect all speakers from unit and try again - if red light still shows then your amp has died.
If the light goes green, then start testing for shorted speaker/wiring. This includes speaker wiring to vehicle shorts - there should be an o/c reading on your meter

Red light is on and subs won't play all the wires are connected correctly it all of a sudden just stopped working one day idk y

sounds like the amp is in protection mode. try disconnecting the subs and see it the light changes to green. if it does then the subs are your problem. if the light was allways red while it was working then the subs may be disconnected inside the box or have gone bad. try using a diffrent speaker and connect to the amp.

Next to no output from amp. verified all connections and power, ground. Protection LED not on. green LED light is on. verified sub is in working order. this amp is need of a service. what can be done

well... you have to wire the sub correctly to the amplifier to get good sound.. you could be giving it like an 8 ohm load and this will cause the amp to put out barely anything at all.. www.the12volt.com and the subwoofer wiring diagram willl tell you all you need to know...

My amplifier keeps on protection always i want to know what can i do to solve the problem or what should be creating it? Someone told me that maybe a capacitor blow up but i opened it a they seem normal,...

Hi,
Amps normally have several kinds of "protection" modes. Common ones are thermal, voltage, and short. Do you know which one you have? If the amp isn't hot, and goes into protection immediately before doing anything, we can rule out thermal protection. The next thing you should do is disconnect the speaker/subwoofer leads from the amp so that it only has power, ground, and remote connected. If the amp comes on with no speaker load, connect the speaker and see if it goes into protection. If it does, then you probably have a short-protection. Hope this helps.

Power light turns from green to red protect mode and then there is no sound coming from my speakers

there are 2 reasons for it to be going into protect mode 1 is heat 2 is the load on it. if it is going into protect mode soon after it starts there is a problem with the speaker. if it is after it has been on for a while it is that the amp itself is overheating. hope this answers your question

If the speaker wires touched and the protection circuit didn't engage quickly enough, the output transistors may have failed. This is the most common cause for an amplifier to go into protect mode.

If you disconnect the speaker wires from the amp and the B+ and remote voltage are above ~11 volts (place black meter lead on ground terminal of the amp when checking the voltage), and the protect light still comes on, the amplifier will need to be repaired.
