Volume knob does not work

Hello,
On my 2001 Jeep Wrangler, the volume knob stop working. Sometimes it works and others it doesn't. I might try lowering it and the system will turn louder. It's just gone crazy. Now it just stoped working completely...
Any ideas on how to fix this?

Get some tuner cleaner (radio shack etc.) and using the thin straw it comes with, spray generously into the volume knob shafy (removethe plastic knob first). Spray while rapidly moving shaft back and forth. Repeat 2-3 more times and all should be good. You have dust builup inside, causing it to go haywire!

Make sure you do this with the stereo OFF!

Car stereo just randomly stop work doesnt allow me to turn up volume or change stations or set it to aux none of the buttons work but the stereos turns on.. what could it be???

Well knowing what stereo you have would help, but mine, the volume knob doubles as the settings knob if you press it. In some newer systems like mine, you should find a "back" button (small arrow) like on a cell phone. Trying using that to escape the settings mode that you might have activated.

Volume doesn't work

in most chrysler product like jeep, they have amplifiers under the back seat. those will not work with an aftermarket radio. those have to be bypassed in order for you to get any sound out of your speakers. i have delt with that myself with the numerous jeeps i have owned.

Volume knob does not work

the radio has to be replaced or sent out to get fixed. there is no easy fix to this problem.the knob is shot. (sometimes you can get the vol to move if you wiggle and push and play with the knob)You are better off replacing the radio with a nice aftermarket one.

The volume control does not go up or down when I turn the knob. I have to play around with it and sometimes it works and other times it dosen't.

On volume control potentiometer carbon layer wears out with time. The easiest way would be to clean it with spirit. Turn off the unit, remove the knob, spray spirit on volume control then turn the knob back and forth around a minute, should work after. Also you can disassemble CD player and resolder pot contacts on the board, when pressure constantly applied from outside, contacts get loosen. And the best way will be to replace the pot.

Cd player not playing

I would go to walmart and buy the disc....its like $10 and made by phillps. After you just put it in your disc slot and it plays you should hear some guy tellin you that its cleaned....this happened on my 2001 Jeep Liberty so it should work

Err message on 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee 10 CD changer

I had a similar problem which responded to the use of a CD cleaner disc to clean the laser lens reading the CD. The "err" messages stopped and the changer started to work as it had before. Perhaps this will correct your problem too.

Problem with my Sony CDX MP70 -

well lets see you could do a hard reboot ... he would have to put in all of his radio stations and tweak it like it was before no biggie... disconnect the red side of your battery for about a min and then put it back on see if that helps .. and take a look at it and see if it has a fuse sometimes they might on the back not sure have to do some looking around ... let me know if this helps
