My first guess would be that the component connections are not matched. Check the component method and make sure that both the source and the TV are set the same. There are two methods:

1) RGB
2)Y,Pr,Pb

If the set is set for RGB and you are sending Y,Pr,Pb the picture will look a bit purple.

DVD side of combo should be hooked up component video (red, blue, green wires and red white for sound)

cable box should be hooked up HDMI or component to TV if HD or composite video if SD

There is no colour on the movie

Make sure you have the cables hook up right. If you are running component mode it takes three for video blue red and white ends. If you are running composite it takes red, white, and yellow.

I would like to know if I can connect a HDMI cable from My tv model WS-65315 to a Direct TV HD receiver?

NO> If your TV supports and have HDMI connections and your HD receiver has an HDMI output then you should have no problem displaying Video. Just make sure you change the input signal of your television to HDMI input. After looking at the spec's of this model these are the following inputs you have. your best picture quaity would be to use componet cables instead, which can show full screen 1080i format, your television does not show at 1080p whis is what HDMI is known for.
Connectors
Rear Input Connectors S-Video x 2 - Component x 3 - Composite x 2 - DVI x 1 - RF x 2 - 1 x RS-232C - Audio (RCA) x 6

Front Input Connectors S-Video x 1 - Composite x 1 - Audio (RCA) x 1

Rear Output Connectors Composite x 1 - Audio (RCA) x 1 - RF x 1

Another good option is use to use a DVI to HMDI connector and hook it up this way. But note: you will have to use audio cables for the DVI input.

My ilo says hd tv right on it, but i cant hook up hdmi cords to it

It may say HD on it but it may be a HD READY set, not a full HD FORMAT.
If it has componet inputs on it,( green, red, blue, and two audio inputs), you can use
them and still recieve HD. If it does not have componet or HDMI inputs on it , it is not a HD set
at all.
Hope this helps,

When i try to connect my xbox 360 to my Vizio hdtv it doesnt not recognize the connection. I have tried replacing the cord to no avail

I have a Vizio 37' tv with an Xbox 360 and it works fine. I am a Cable repair tech, hook up the xbox using the composit cable first RCA these are the red white and yellow cable to a non high def input on the tv, if that works check the settings in the xbox, there is a screen that will allow or enable HD quality pictures. Also check the Xbox cable itself. at the Y there is a small swiitch that goes from componet to composit you can only get HD if you use the Red Blue Green cables, then make sure you have the TV input set to that input other wise you will have only a blue screen. If that does not work, Hell, call the cable company if you are a customer, they should send someone out to show you how to connect it, and they might not even charge you, we don't, but I work for a smaller company, not ComCast or Cox, If you want to email me you can [email protected], good luck

How to connect new HD cable box to receiver

HI:
You are using a new HD Cable box, that are using componet video cables for HD, Unfortunetly this receiver does not have componet inputs, so you will just have to run the audio from the televison directly to the receiver by connecting the video out and audio out from the television to the receiver's video Input one. This will require a normal RCA composite cables yellow, red, white. Connect one end of each of the cables to televisions output terminals, and the other to the input one on the receiver. Note: Your TV might have a seperate term called Monitor out, Connect the yellow here, and the red and white to audio out. You can do the same for the DVD but you have to use the same cables,Also the television will not display HD picture this way as this is not a HDTV Receiver. If you just want TV sound to the receiver then do not use the video(Yellow) cable just use the audio out terminals from the tv and connect to Input one on the receiver. you can do this with the cable box also but you have to use RCA type cables . If you want the full HD experience then a new up todate receiver is necessary.

Setting up Unit

I called the JVC tech service rep. I went from the Cable box to the JVC unit with a Digital Optical Cable, from dvd/vcr player to jvc unit with a Composite Cable and Audio Cables. From cable box to tv with hdmi cable and from jvc unit to tv with componet cables and cable box to dvd/vcr with Audio/ Video and S-Video cables. This allows me to have the cable TV access and Surround sound in all mode. I have HD and Digital surround sound in three diiferent modes. Everything is working great.
Thanks for the opportunity for help just the same.
