This error message means that the preferences in EasyShare software are set to save pictures to the CD-ROM drive or some drive other than your hard drive. To correct this, follow these steps: Start EasyShare software. Select Tools > Preferences. Select the Transfer tab. Below "Select the location on your hard disk where you want to copy transferred pictures," select Browse. Browse to the desired location on the hard drive where you want to transfer your pictures. The default location is: For Windows 98/Me Operating Systems: c:/My Documents/My Pictures/Kodak Pictures For Windows 2000/XP Operating Systems: c:/Documents and Settings/user name/My Documents/My Pictures/Kodak Pictures Select OK to return to Preferences, then click Apply and OK to save and close the Preferences. Reconnect the camera, and transfer the pictures.

SOURCE: Kodak Easyshare camera - acting strange and won't turn on

Leaving the camera pluged in should not have caused damage. The camera may need an all reset. Check in the instruction manual for your set to know how, or call Kodak customer service to find out.

If the all reset did not work and if all the setups are correct, and the camera still does not start, this means that there is a failure inside of the camera. It would most likely be on the main CPU board, or one of the operation sensors in the camera system.

SOURCE: Kodak Easyshare camera turns on and off

Hi, here is whats going on, if your M763 is powering on for 2 secs and the lense opens up then go's right back in, there is a 90% chance you got sand in the unit from say the beach ?

here is a test , when you press the power buttion watch the lense you will notice that the bigger part rotates as it comes out, what you want to do is give it a little help Lightly rotate it abit more just at the point where it normaly stops and go's back in, the cam will prob stay on and work like normal.

now the hard part 2 things to try, a can of AIR from walmarts try to blow out and sand thats around the rings, i did this and have fixed about 20 of these's now, on the others you will need to take it apart and clean the gears and mech of the lense housing then put it all back together.

hope this helps

Lost download disc for kodak m863

You can download Kodak software here. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Sounds like a power problem. Remove the batteries, recharge them, insert them and turn the camera on, and then off. Camera should now be reset.
