SOURCE: How do I replace the carbon brushes in PowerBase Router 873980

like most power tools if you remove the housing you can see where the old brushes are. They are usually spring loaded and held in place with a screw. be careful removing the old ones and replace the new ones in the opposite fashion of removal

What hp router is best to make cabinet raised doors

I used to use a Ryobi 2.5 hp and it worked fine but if you are concerned go higher hp. It's probably more important that the router is a variable speed model. The bigger the size of cutter required for raised panel doors the more torque and revs are produced. You need to ensure starting on slowest speed and adjust up to speed required. Speed should be based on size of cutter and to me is set by sound( a nice hum, not screaming) and vibration( NO VIBRATION)! The cut needs to be done in several passes, maintaining constant feed speed,( don't burn your expensive cutter) allowing cutter and machine to do work maintaining the hum and no vibration. And of course set your guards etc!! If this is on going work for you perhaps look into a spindle moulder with attachment to take router cutters

Finding the centre of a circle

Draw two chords of the circle (any two chords will do, as long as they aren't parallel). One way to avoid parallel chords is to have them share an endpoint. Construct perpendicular bisectors of each chord. The center of the circle will be where the two bisectors intersect.

Is there a better diagram showing how to use the 3/8-in filekit than that on the rear of the kit package? I assume the hard/soft plate pivots and the slots on the guide slide down over the chain and bar. ...

The insrtuctions on the back of the package leave a lot to be desired, the combi roller gauge is a very good tool when used correctly, clamp the saw in the centre of the bar in a vice ( be careful not to pinch the chain ) place the roller gauge over the most damaged cutter ( remember you are sharpening into the cutters ) the small arrows in the base of the gauge should face in the direction of the cutting chain, place the gauge onto one of the cutters, place the file onto the rollers, keep the file parallel with the sides of the gauge, count the amount of strokes done to bring the cutter to the correct angle, this is the amount of strokes you will do on all the other cutters,( keep all the cutters the same lenght or it will not cut straight ) you are going to sharpen every other cutter, now turn the machine round and file all the the opposite cutters, the small swivel plate is to lower the depth gauges, hard is for hard wood and does not lower the depth gauge as low as the soft wood setting, place the plate on top of one of the cutters and into the bottom of the cutter in front, file away anything protruding through the selected slot in the plate.

Problem guiding the direction of cut with a jigsaw.

check that surface plate is square with the blade.don't push too hard,or force the saw,let it cut at it's own speed, guide rather than force.a scroll saw or band saw is more accurate as you control the work piece instead of the tool.

I was cleaning my bobbin case and the cutter and blade came off. Can you send me a picture so I can put it back together?

I don't think I have a picture but let me see if I can describe it to you.

The metal cutter has a black plastic piece. The blade fits in the black plastic with the longest point on top. The black plastic piece slides back onto the metal cutter, riding on the ridge. Fit the metal cutter back on the unit, being sure to align the "stubs" in the holes of the black pieces attached to the cog wheel. Make sure the "stub" of the black plastic piece with the blade fits in the parallel groove so that only the metal piece moves out and brings the thread to the blade when the cutter is activiated.

If you are still unable to fix, make a comment back and I'll go take pictures of my machine's cutter system.

Good luck.

Sharp UX-184 Paper Feed

On inside of machine it states how to:
1. Place new paper roll on the left hub while pushing it in, lowering the roll into the compartment making sure it is inserted onto the right hub.
2. Pass the leading edge of the paper through the paper cutter guide and the cutter.
3. Remove any slack in the paper.
4. Close the cover. The paper will feed out automatically.

The paper rolls over top front to back.

Cutting holes

My Dremel 300 came without any instructions, so I had to puzzle out how to use the circle cutter. None of the images I managed to find on the Web or elsewhere were any help. I directed my attention to the "spike" on the circle cutter, and eventually I realized that it was on the wrong (top) side of the cutter--perhaps for safety's sake. When I removed it and positioned it on the bottom side of the cutter, things became clearer. The next thing was to locate the correct cutting edge. I had never used Dremel before, so I didn't recognize the cutting "bit", since it looked like a drill bit. The final problem was how to attach the circle cutter to the Dremel tool. I couldn't see any way of fixing the cutter to the tool. I thought perhaps there was something missing--a connector, perhaps. Eventually I found a reference on the Web to "removing the cap" on the tool. I hadn't noticed a "cap", but when I gave it a turn, it began to unscrew, so I knew I was in business. Finally II tried the attachment out on a piece of scrap timber, I found that it worked. A simple instruction manual would have saved me a lot of time. Also, I now discover that the Dremel 400 would be much more useful than the 300. Dremel don't seem to be very customer friendly. I can access the US site, but the UK and Germany website won't let me in!
